2 years Later.

As the first light of dawn began to seep through the curtains, I slowly emerged from a deep slumber, feeling a gentle pressure around my neck. At first, it was a faint sensation, but it gradually became more distinct, drawing me out of sleep. There was no panic or discomfort—only a familiar warmth that made my heart swell.

I smiled, already knowing what was behind this delightful sensation. This gentle weight was something I eagerly anticipated every morning, a ritual that made the start of each day feel special. As my consciousness fully returned, I instinctively shifted, my hand reaching up to caress the little being curled up on my neck.

My baby, my son, my best friend—all embodied in this tiny, furry bundle of joy. I gently scooped him up, cradling his warm, small body in my hands. His soft purrs vibrated against my fingers, a sound so soothing it dissolved any lingering traces of worry. I brought him closer, burying my face in his plush fur and he responded with a contented nuzzle, pressing his tiny head against me, as if he, too, found comfort in our morning embrace.

I kissed the top of his head, feeling his purrs deepen as he nestled even closer. With a chuckle, I opened my eyes and looked at him. "Henry, I know you're only here because you're hungry," I teased softly. He didn't move, his eyes still closed as if in deep sleep. "Are you here because you love me?" I asked, amused by his act, but he remained unbothered, still pretending to sleep.

I shifted slightly, and that was enough to make him open his eyes. He got to his feet, stretching and letting out a tiny meow, all ready for breakfast.

"I knew it," I laughed, "Your appetite is truly something." I said and he meowed once more, as if to confirm.

I sat up on the bed and stretched my body, feeling the morning stiffness ease away. Henry gently bumped his head against my side, seeking attention. I stroked him affectionately, and together we made our way towards the kitchen, ready to start our day.

I prepared my breakfast while Henry, now finished with his own meal, perched himself on the cat tree a few feet away from the kitchen. He watched my every move with sleepy eyes, his little head tilting slightly as he fought to stay awake. I couldn't help but smile at the sight, amused by how his eyelids drooped more and more, sleep slowly taking over him.

As I cracked an egg into the pan, I sighed, thinking about how simple life was for him. Just eat, sleep, do a few zoomies around the house, and then eat and sleep again. No worries, no stress.

I ate my breakfast in peace, scrolling through my phone, enjoying the quiet morning. Usually, I make it a point to avoid anything related to work once I'm off the clock, but some days there's just no escaping it. Today was one of those days.

Hoseok had mentioned he'd be late, which meant I had to attend a client meeting on his behalf. I sighed, knowing it was necessary but already feeling the weight of the added responsibility.

I cleared the table, putting everything back in its rightful place. The kitchen was soon as tidy as it had been before breakfast. I turned my attention to Henry's litter box, making sure it was clean and fresh. I wiped down the surrounding area, ensuring everything was spotless.

One of the merits of living in a studio apartment is that there's not much space to manage, which makes cleaning quick and easy. With just a few simple tasks, the entire place feels neat and orderly. I glanced around, satisfied with how everything looked.

Before getting ready for the office, I couldn't resist running over to Henry. I scooped him up into my arms, not caring that he was sleeping peacefully. My heart swelled with affection, and all my cuteness aggression came pouring out. I showered him with kisses, holding him close as I squeezed him gently, knowing I wouldn't see him again until the evening.
