We lay side by side for maybe an hour now. Evening was approaching, but the day was still bright and the sky was a perfect shade of blue.
We shared very few words, but this was one of the most comforting experiences of my life. The birds were chirping, the fresh scent of the flowers lingered around us, and petals occasionally drifted over our heads as we watched the sky.
I wished time would slow down. It felt like I was receiving free therapy or indulging in a mental spa.
But even in this idyllic moment, thoughts intruded. Daniel. I wondered what he could be doing now. Would he be at the house? Maybe not.
My mind wandered to our house and the garden we had there. It wasn't as vast as this, of course, but it was my sanctuary, just like this place was for Taehyung. After our fights, I often found solace in that garden.
I sighed, realizing my thoughts were drifting in a direction that could ruin this perfect moment. I needed to stop myself and focus on the here and now.
Turning my head slightly, I glanced at Taehyung. His eyes were closed, a serene expression on his face. I couldn't help but smile.
"Thank you," I whispered softly, not wanting to disturb the peace but feeling the need to express my gratitude.
He opened his eyes slightly and turned his head to look at me. "For what?" he asked, a gentle smile playing on his lips.
"For this," I said, gesturing to the garden around us. "For sharing this place with me. It's truly special."
His smile widened, and he nodded. We both returned our gaze to the sky, and I sighed, feeling a sense of calm wash over me.
"What is your favorite colour?" I asked, catching him slightly off guard. He tilted his head, a small smile playing on his lips as he pondered over the question.
"White," he finally replied. "And yours?" he asked.
"Blue," I said, still gazing at the sky.
"How old are you?" I asked, curious to learn more about him.
"28," he said. "And you?"
"27," I replied, and he hummed in response.
A flower petal drifted down from above, gently landing on his face. He delicately took it in his hand, examining it with a thoughtful expression.
"Do you like winter or summer?" he asked, still focused on the petal.
"I like today," I said softly, watching him. "Spring."
He looked at me, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
"Spring is nice," he agreed.
We looked at each other for a few seconds.
"I'm guessing you don't have a girlfriend," I said and he chuckled subtly.
"You guessed it right," he said, and I smiled in response.
"Do you miss your husband?" he asked, and I scoffed, looking away to the sky .
"If I missed him, I wouldn't be here. I would be in his house," I said, and I could feel his eyes on me so I turned to him again, meeting his gaze.
His expression was thoughtful, almost searching. "That makes sense," he said quietly.
"Cat or dog?" I asked, breaking the silence with a light-hearted question.
He frowned at first, puzzled, but then his expression softened as he understood what I meant.
"I do like both," he said, thinking for a while. "But from afar. I don't know if I would raise one."
