{Unexpectedly Expected} [Jane x Jeff]

Chapter 17

Honestly EJ reminds me of the cool older brother that's just chill.

    I woke up to Jeff shaking me awake. "H-huh? What?"

"It's time to get up, I'm gonna go get your food," I nod and he stands to leave.

I lay there, bored, and playing with Smile until Jeff walked back in and handed me my plate. I nod and begin eating. "Are you still mad at me for the situation with Liu?"

"Was he that way when you saw him last year?" He asked, sitting on the bed. "No, he was angry, yes, but he wasn't mean towards me. He said something about being controlled the other day though," Jeff sighs. "Yeah, you said that,"

"Are you mad I hid it from you?"

"I was at first, but I seen him and that's enough, I suppose." I nod and finish eating. "I have a question,"

"What's up?"

"How are you going to take a shower like this?"

"I don't know."

"I could get you clothes and carry you to the bathroom, that seems like a good idea," I nod. "One today?" He asks and I nod. He walks out of the room for a few minutes.

    When he comes back in he picks me up. He carries me to the bathroom and sits me down. I use the counter to balance myself and Jeff leaves the bathroom. I see that he's already left me some clothes in here. I unwrap my bandages and undress. I wobble over to the tub and start the water. I step in and sit down. A bath would be much better since I can't stand.

I bathe and once I finish I carefully stand up. I step out of the bath and dry off. I put on the hoodie and shorts Jeff grabbed from my room. I rewrap my legs, but my hand looks healed, it only being a scar.

Great, now I can't walk out.

Jeff left me in here and I don't have my phone. I sigh and slowly walk to the door. I open it up, poking my head out of the door, hoping to see anyone in the hall. I see EJ walking down the hall. "Hey," I call from the bathroom. "Jane? What are you doing?"

"I was getting a bath, but I need some way to get back to Jeff's room,"

"Why couldn't Jeff just stay with you?"

My face turns a light pink. "What do you mean?"

"I thought y'all were close?"

"Oh, uhm, we aren't that close," I laugh lightly. He hums and puts his arm around my back, helping me hop back to Jeff's room. He knocks on the door. Jeff opens the door and looks surprised. EJ hands me over to Jeff. "I was just coming by to check on Jane when I found her in the bathroom."

"Thank you for helping her back," EJ nods and leaves. Jeff helps me over to the bed and helps me sit down. "Sorry, I didn't know if you wanted me to stay,"

"No, it's okay," Jeff turns on the TV and gets up to leave. "Where are you going?"

"To eat, I didn't eat when I brought you your food." I nod and he leaves. I lay down and fall asleep.

    When I woke up, Jeff still wasn't back. If he isn't eating he probably went on a spree. I get my phone from the nightstand and see if Jeff texted me.

Had to go out with Toby, be back soon.
Twenty minutes ago.

Oh, okay. I was just taking a nap anyway.
Now.

I put my phone down and watch TV. I flip through the channels til I find a true crime show. I've always liked true crime, until I stopped because of course, they had to make one about the insane man I used to call my best friend. Smile jumps on the bed and lies beside me. I pet him as I watch the show.

I rest my head on my palm and watch the show until Jeff comes barging in. He huffs, probably angry. "What's up with you?"

"I didn't want to go out with Toby, he can be annoying sometimes."

"Did Slender make you?"

"Yeah, also I think he wants to see you but I'm not sure when." I nod. He throws his hoodie onto the ground, stomps over to the bed, and sits down. "Oh, you're watching this stuff?"

"Couldn't find anything good," I shrug. "I like they made one for me," he laughs. "I stopped watching them after I seen it,"

"Really?"

"I just don't like reliving it, and I did relive it when I watched it." He nods as I explain it. "Understandable." I look at my phone for the time, twelve twenty-four. I sigh and continue watching the show. Jeff moves so he's comfortable, lying down beside me. Smile being in between us.

    We watched the show until there was a knock at the door. "Come in," Jeff said, sitting up.

The door creeks open and I can see Slender bending his way into the room. "Jane, I was hoping to see you in here." I smile a bit as he walks fully in. "Should I go?" Jeff asked. Slender shook his head no. "Jane, do you know who got you that night?"

"No, not really," I shook my head no. "That was Zalgo, he's a demon, I don't know why he wanted you but he's not a good guy."

"He said he wanted me to join him?" I say answering his question, but a bit confused. He nods, "That seems like him, I'm glad you know how to fight,"

"I've learned to,"

"Be careful the next time you go out." I nod and he turns to leave.

"Slender, could you tell me more about the demon?" I asked and he turned around.

"He's a powerful demonic entity, he's called 'The One Who Will End the World' though he normally only affects cartoons and stuff, he's been able to appear here to try to collect people to do his bidding. He has similar powers to me, but since he is a demon, he can do a little bit more." His voice booms.

"He said..." I paused. "He used Jeff's brother to tell me... that he could..." I paused for a moment, covering my face trying not to cry. "He said he would bring my parents back..." Jeff looks at me and frowns.

"He used Jeff's brother against you? Is that what you're saying?"

"She told me he said he was being controlled?" Jeff says, sounding confused but he was correct. "Is that true?" I nod, "he spoke just like Zalgo was speaking... and..."

"And what?" Jeff seemed confused by this too, since I hadn't told him. "When Zalgo tried to get me to join and I said no he brought him into the room...and he... he hit me..."

"Hit you?" Jeff asked the sound of his voice seemed angry. "He would never hit me, not when we were young, not when I seen him last year, never..."

"So you believe he was being controlled?" "Well obviously, he said he was," I say. "Is that all?" Jeff asked. "Yes, I will go now," Slender turns and starts to leave. I sigh and compose myself. "Take a nap I'll be back later," Jeff stands and leaves the room. I lay down, cuddling up to Smile, and fall asleep.

Said I was going to sleep but I can't sleep. So one more. Spoiler, WE GET LIU BACKKKKK (in the next few chapters) btw the thought of slender bending to get into a room is creepy😭
