{Unexpectedly Expected} [Jane x Jeff]

Chapter 23

    I groan as I'm woken up by the sun shining through the window. I roll over and sit up. I yawn and stretch, my back popping loudly. Oh, that felt good. I haven't popped my back in a good minute.

I hear someone groan beside me, waking up. I turn to look at him, reminding myself of yesterday. He rolls over, facing me.

He smiles though he can't see me and sits up. I Can feel myself growing red.

He takes off the sleeping mask and looks at me. "You woke up early," his voice filled with the sound of sleep. I nod and move my mask to wipe my eyes. "You sleep with that thing on?" "Sometimes," I shrug. I move my mask and throw my legs over the bed. I stand and stretch again.  I grab my phone from my nightstand and check the time. Nine-fifteen.

"Breakfast is soon," Jeff nods and gets out of bed. He walks out of my room and I make up my bed.

I finish up and walk downstairs. The smell of food fills my nose and I smile. I walk into the dining room, but I don't see Slenderman. I walk closer and see Hoodie and Nurse Ann, a girl I met at the party, cooking. I sit in my seat and look at Masky. "Where is Slender?" I ask. "He went out for the day, he said he'd be back later." I nod as Hoodie walks over and places a plate in front of Masky and me. I nod in thanks and begin to eat.

    I finished eating and left the dining room. I walk upstairs and into my room. I sigh and sit down on my bed. I get on my phone and look at the time. Ten-thirty. Jeff didn't come down for breakfast but he's not in here, I wonder why. I play on my phone for a while until there's a knock at the door.

I sigh and get off my butt. I walk to the door and open up. There I see Jeff and Slender at the door. "Yes?"

"We are going on a mission, but we need you," Slender said.

I scrunched my face up, his voice booming through my head. I look at Jeff but he turns away. "Is this the mission Clockwork was talking about? That no one knows about?"

"Yes, but we need you as a distraction." I roll my eyes.

Of course, the distraction.

"Oh, uhm, sure. Do I need anything?" "Yes, get your stuff, we'll meet downstairs." I nod and shut the door. I grab my usual outfit and change. I put my knife holster on my thigh and slipped my knife into it. I slip on my flats instead of my heels and my jacket.

I walk out of my room and down the stairs. The proxies, Jeff, and Slender are all in the living room at the bottom of the stairs. Jeff smiles lightly as he sees me. Slender nods once he sees me and looks at the three proxies.

"You all know the plan, except Jane, I should assume you will tell her on the way." Slender looks a Jeff for a moment and Jeff nods. "I'll get back up collected here, you all go ahead." They nod and turn toward the door. I follow them and out the door.

The grey sky casting over the earth, gloomy but beautiful.

Masky and Hoodie led us to an old car around the back of the house. Hoodie gets in the driver seat and Masky in the passenger seat. Toby gets in behind Hoodie and Jeff opens the back passenger side door for me. I climb into the middle seat and Jeff gets into the car as well. "I keep telling Slender we need a van, but it's as good as we got," Masky says while lifting his mask and lighting a cig. Hoodie looks at him for a moment before turning to start the car. He starts driving in a random direction.

"So what is this about? Why do I have to be a distraction?" I ask. "We're gonna try to get that dumb clown's brother," Masky coughs out. "What?"

The whole car goes silent. Not even Toby making any noise.
