She scoffs, "I bet you are." She eyes me up and down. "I don't think that I've seen you around before... who are you?"
"Esme, Lockwood." I say.
"Lockwood..." she dragged out the name as if in thought. "Your new?"
"Yes."
"Hhhhmmm..." she hums.
"Esme!" Caitlyn runs up to me, followed by Sabina who had a scowl on her face.
"Hey..." I say.
"Caitlyn... Sabina"The brunette says.
"Aurora" Sabina says putting on a fake smile. So this was Aurora...
"What brings you both here?" Aurora asks us.
"We were walking to the parking lot to say bye to Esme." Caitlyn says.
Thank goodness before anything else could be said and I got into any real drama Kethan called out to me, "Esme! It's time to go!"
"Coming!" I turn to the three girl and said, "Bye!" I ran off before anything else could be said. Crisis diverted.
The boys and Aelia chatted as we drove home, to their home I guess. I was just living there.
I was walking to the house when someone grabs my wrist. I turned around to see Miles, "where are you going?"
"The house." Where else would I go?
"If you're going to learn to ride we need to start now. With your history we'll need all the time we can get." He says.
I look at him, "what's that supposed to mean?"
"You could barely stay on the pony that went .1 miles an hour." Before I could say something he turns to leave, "now let's go! We can't waste any more time!"
I let out a huff. This was going to be a long afternoon.
—————
Miles gave me a saddle and reins to go and tack up a grey gelding. He was one of the older horses, not too old, but he was old enough that I remembered him from some of my first years here. I believe that she is maybe ten... twelve?
He lead me out to a pasture after he mounted the palomino that me had been brushing yesterday and we walked the horses for a bit.
Soon after walking through the field we got to this hill when the sun was just starting to set. The purple clovers shined as the little rays of light started to fade and there shy went from blue to oranges and pinks.
"It's beautiful" I breath out.
"Yeah..." Miles says. "It is."
—————
"Miles" Katlynn calls from the kitchen. "Is that you?"
"Yeah mom" he calls back.
"Could you came and help me carry out food to the dining room?" She calls out.
Miles walked into the kitchen and I followed suit.
Katlynn smiled when she saw me, "hey Esme, how was your day?"
"Good" I grab a bowl of noodles to carry. "Miles is teaching me to ride.
I saw her face flicker to confusion for a second. But only a second before it went back to normal. It was so fast that I could believe that I imaged it. "Oh... that's good. You're living at a horse ranch after all right now."
Thoughts?
