As soon as Miles got inside he asked, "what's the dog doing in the car?"

My eyes wide , "Max!" I rushed out of the house and to the car where poor Max sat on the seats patently. He was my brother's old military dog, and he'd survived the explosion... I knew he was healing like me though...

I knew he was healing like me though

Opening the door I let him hop out. "Heal" I say and he walk a beside me all the way back to the house.

"Puppy!" Benji jumps down from the chair and runs to Max who stands still as a statue. I pat his head to tell him it's okay and he relaxes. The only reason I even listened to my mom about coming here was that I could bring Max.

As I look up I notice Miles and Danial in an eye staring contest. And not the fun game ones, but where one is waiting for the other to give I'm up and spill all of heir darkest secrets.

"Where were you?" Danial finally asks.

"With friends" Miles answers calmly, even though if looks could kill, he'd be dead.

"Which ones?" Danial asks. His gaze doesn't stop for a second.

"Some of them" Miles says. He sets down his bike helmet and grabs a cookie from the cooling rack.

Daniel grabs the cookie from Miles right beige he takes a bite out of it, Miles yelling, "hey!"

"I told you that you aren't owed to go out with friends without asking anymore" Daniel says.

"I told Jace I was going out" Miles points to Jace who's munching on a cookie.

"That doesn't count and you know it" Daniel says.

"Fine, I'll text one of you next time" Miles says.

"They might not be a next time if you don't get it together" Daniel says.

Miles rolls his she's, "fine, if you need me I'll be doing homework upstairs." Getting up he grabs his backpack and walks right past me without giving me a glance.

Daniel gives out a frustrated sigh before Katlynn ask, "How did Apollo get out again?" They must be talking about the horse.

Daniel shrugs, "I have no idea, but I'm about to my last straw."

Katlynn wipes her hands on her pants and looks to us, "sorry another the drama, you know boys in their teen years."

Mom cracks a smile, but I knew it wasn't fully real. It didn't meet her eyes. "I know how you feel." Mom turns to me, "I'm about to head Esme, anything you need?"

Yes. "No." I shake my head. The only thing that I truly need was her to take me home with her. To stop therapy. To stop looking at me like I might shatter to a million pieces at any second. "I think I've got everything."

Mom nods getting up to hug me, then turns to the boys. "Could one of you boys help with her suitcases? There's three in the car."

"On it" Raiden stands.

Mom turns back to me to hug me,  whispering, "be good."

"I'll try."
