### Chapter 9: Engagement Day
Yn sat in her room, her phone pressed to her ear as she spoke with her publisher. "I found a letter revealing an affair between a royal named Taehyung and a commoner named Jessica. It's a significant discovery, and it could add depth to the book."
"That's fantastic, Yn!" her publisher exclaimed. "Make sure to include every detail. This could be a game-changer."
As Yn continued discussing her progress, she heard a rustling sound behind her. She quickly ended the call and turned around to see a man lurking near her window.
"Who are you? Why are you peeping into my window?" Yn demanded, her voice steady despite the fear creeping in.
The man stepped into the light, his face stern. "Your window? Since when is this your place, intruder? This is my palace. I won't let an Indian come and take all that I dreamed for," he said, his voice dripping with disdain. Before she could ask anything, he disappeared into the shadows.
Shaken, Yn immediately called Jin, but he was busy picking engagement dresses for them and didn't answer.
The next day, the day of the engagement, Jin arrived with the dress he had prepared for Yn. "Here, wear this and be ready," he said, giving her a reassuring hug to ease her tension.
Yn took the dress and got ready. When she came downstairs, Jin was waiting for her. She was wearing a beautiful gown, a beautiful blend of soft pastels and intricate embroidery that highlighted her grace and elegance.
Jin's eyes widened as he took in her appearance. "You look stunning," he whispered, clearly mesmerized by her beauty.
Snapping him out of his trance, Yn asked, "What should I do?"
Jin smiled. "Just act like we are deeply in love. That's it."
With that, Yn and Jin stepped into the grand ballroom filled with guests. The atmosphere was heavy with judgmental stares, many disapproving of the fact that Yn was Indian. However, like an oasis in a desert, Jin's friends greeted Yn with warmth and kindness.
"Yn, meet my friends," Jin said. "This is Hobi, Suga, Lisa, and Rose."
Hobi grinned widely. "It's so nice to finally meet you, Yn! Jin's told us a lot about you."
Lisa nodded enthusiastically. "You look amazing! We're so happy for both of you."
Rose added, "If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask. We're here for you."
Suga, Jin's best buddy since childhood, gave a friendly nod. "Welcome to the family, Yn. Don't worry about the others. We've got your back."
Before Yn could respond, someone tapped Jin's shoulder. Both turned around, and Yn was shocked to see the man from the previous night standing there.
Jin's eyes narrowed. "Namjoon, what are you doing here?"
Namjoon smirked. "I just came to see the spectacle. Didn't know you'd be so desperate to marry an outsider, Jin."
Yn felt a surge of anger but stayed silent, letting Jin handle the confrontation.
Jin's voice was cold. "Yn is more a part of this family than you'll ever be. Show some respect."
Namjoon's expression darkened, but he said nothing more and walked away, leaving a tense silence in his wake.
Jin turned to Yn, his eyes filled with concern. "Are you okay?"
Yn nodded, though she was still rattled. "Yes, I just didn't expect to see him here. He peeped in my window yesterday. Who is he?"
Jin squeezed her hand reassuringly. "He is the cousin that I told you about. Kim Namjoon. Don't worry about him. Let's focus on us tonight."
They both took a deep breath, ready to face the crowd and prove their love, even if it was just an act for now. The night was just beginning, and the future was uncertain, but for the moment, they had each other.
