### Chapter 12: Betrayal in the Palace

Jin kissed the top of her head, his fingers gently tracing patterns on her back. "Good morning," he murmured, his voice full of affection.

Yn smiled, closing her eyes and snuggling closer. "Good morning," she replied, feeling a deep sense of contentment.

As they drifted off to sleep, still wrapped in each other's embrace, they both knew that something significant had shifted between them. What had started as a pretended engagement was evolving into something real and beautiful, and neither of them wanted to let it go.

Days went by, and Yn gathered more details about Taehyung's and Jessica's story. The preparations for the wedding were in full swing. On the eve of Jin's birthday, the air was electric with anticipation.

Jin looked dashing in a classic black tuxedo, tailored to perfection. His hair was styled neatly, and the silver cufflinks added a touch of elegance.

Yn wore a stunning emerald green gown that complemented Jin's attire perfectly

Yn wore a stunning emerald green gown that complemented Jin's attire perfectly. The dress hugged her figure in all the right places, with a flowing skirt that gave her an ethereal grace. Her hair was styled in loose waves, cascading over her shoulders, and she wore minimal jewelry, letting the dress speak for itself.

As they enjoyed the party, Namjoon approached them, a pleasant smile on his face. "Congratulations," he said warmly, shaking Jin's hand and giving Yn a courteous nod.

Jin and Yn exchanged confused glances, both taken aback by Namjoon's sudden change of behavior. Before they could respond, Jin's grandpa stormed towards them, his face red with anger.

"Jin, what is this?" he yelled, brandishing a tablet in his hand. "Are you marrying a snake like Yn?"

Jin's expression hardened. "Grandfather, don't call her names. What are you talking about?"

Grandpa shoved the tablet into Jin's hands. "Read it yourself."

Jin's eyes widened as he scanned the article. It was a tabloid piece, under Yn's byline, detailing explicit relations within the royal family. The article had facts from her research, but also included details she had never discovered, like Jin having a dog and a funeral for it.

The room fell silent as the guests watched the scene unfold. Yn spotted Namjoon smirking in the corner, satisfaction gleaming in his eyes.

Jin turned away, overwhelmed. Yn followed him outside. "Jin, it's not me. I didn't write that article."

Jin ran a hand through his hair, his face a mix of confusion and hurt. "I need some time, Yn. This is all too much."

He was called back by his grandparents, leaving Yn standing alone. She retreated to her room, heart pounding in her chest. She read the article again, noting the things she had researched and the details she had never known, like the dog's funeral.

Later, Jin came to her room. His face was drawn and tired. "My grandparents are disappointed, Yn. They want you to leave the palace."

Devastated, Yn began packing her things. Jin suddenly grabbed her hand. "Come with me," he said, his voice soft but firm.

He drove her to his flat in Seoul. Once inside, Yn turned to him, her eyes pleading. "Do you believe me, Jin?"

Jin sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I'm confused, Yn. The affair from the letter and all... it matches what you knew. But the dog's matter, you couldn't have known that."

Yn showed him the part about the dog. "I had no way of knowing this. Please, Jin, believe me."

Jin looked at her, his expression torn. "I want to believe you, Yn. But the shame this has brought... it's overwhelming."

He turned away, his shoulders slumping. "Goodnight," he muttered before leaving the room.

Yn lay down on the bed, tears spilling over her cheeks. She felt lost and alone, the weight of the situation pressing down on her. Despite the turmoil, she clung to the hope that the truth would come out, and that she and Jin could find their way back to each other.
