Of course, he attacks first. He's so predictable. I catch his blade with my axe, pushing it away from my stomach, the two of us grinning at each other before I fly up and over him. I kick his back, causing him to stumble, and he falls. I try lunging for him to win quicker, but the boy grabs my leg mid-air, tossing me to the side like I weigh nothing. I grunt angrily, wiping away the sweat forming on my forehead. I crack my neck before charging at Riven; he rolls out of the way, giving me the chance to pin him down. I thrust my knee against his chest, trying to wrangle his wrists, but the bastard is too quick. He slides me across his body, pushing his knee between my legs and flipping me on my back. What a position, I think to myself. Riven was on top of me, our legs tangled together, my wrists being forced down by his hands; I let myself stare a little at his tensed muscles; no, shit, don't get distracted. I shake my head and grimace at the face in front of me. I somehow manage to slide one of my legs in between his. I thrust my knee up with all of my might, and Riven screams, letting go of me. I scramble away and stand as quickly as I can.
"That was a dirty trick," He manages to wince, and I let out a small cackle, placing an axe against his throat.
"I win," I smile, helping him up, "C'mon," I say, holding his hand, "Let's get you some ice." Riven snatches his hand away from mine and looks around at all the other people in the area. I cross my arms, and a wrinkle forms between my brows. We leave the pitch together, and I'm trying not to think about how he snatched his hand from mine. Maybe he was angry at me for playing dirty, but it's not like I haven't before. Perhaps he didn't want to be seen holding my hand.
Once we are alone, he says, "I have something to ask you." I look up at him. He isn't looking at me but looking away, rubbing the back of his neck.
"What's up?" I ask, playing with a loose curl.
"I, well, I wanted to," his voice trailed off into a mutter. My eyebrows knit together as he stopped walking and looked at the floor.
"I beg your pardon?" I ask, slightly annoyed. He sighs and runs a hand through his hair, finally willing himself to look at me.
"I wanted to ask you on a date," he replies, staring into my eyes, which I'm sure are wide enough to see through walls.
"You what?" I ask, a smile playfully tugging at the corners of my mouth.
"You heard me," Riven laughs, nudging my shoulder. Will you go on a date with me, Y/N?" He asks again, studying my eyes for an answer.
"What was that? I didn't quite hear you," I say, smiling like an idiot, putting a hand up to my ear and laughing. He playfully pushes me, telling me to shut up.
"I'm not asking again," He laughs.
"Yeah, I will," I reply, rolling my eyes with a smile; he grins back to me, "You're planning it all, though-" I can hardly finish my sentence before his hand finds the back of my neck and lips crash onto mine. I smile and lean into him, his hand looping around my waist as I tangle my hands in his hair. His tongue finds my mouth before he starts trailing kisses down my jaw and neck. He pushed me against a wall and looped one of my legs around his waist. We stay there for a while, I have no idea how long, alternating between kissing lips, jaws, and necks, desperately clinging to each other.
"This doesn't mean I forgive you for kneeing my balls, though," He says, pulling away from me, his hands resting on my hips. I look up at him with my best puppy dog eyes.
"Please?" I ask sweetly, placing a hand on his chest. Riven smiles at me, kissing my forehead gently.
"Not a chance, Princess," He whispers sweetly in my ear before walking off.
"Fuck you!" I call after him.
"Time and place, Princess," He laughs before disappearing around a corner.I return to the training field, coaching the other fairies on how to defend, considering fairies aren't meant to attack. It's bullshit, in my opinion, but I don't make the rules here. Bloom joined us after about an hour, but she seemed more distracted than usual, I could tell something was on her mind but ever time I asked she dismissed me. I understand not wanting to talk about feelings so I let it go after a minute.
"You know, I just want to get my ring back," Stella sighs, staring at her ringless hand. The sun was starting to set and the girls and I were discussing the ring situation back in the dorm.
"Yeah, and I think we should be the ones to attack," Tecna says, pounding one fist into her hand. I blinked in surprise, but also, I was impressed. I'm usually the one to suggest striking first, I must be having an effect on the girls. I smile to myself and open my mouth to agree, but Flora beats me to it.
"Tecna, we aren't soldiers." She protests, I roll my eyes. They seem to forget that they have me around, you know, a soldier. "How can we over power Icy, Darcy and Stormy?" She asks, the other girls sigh in quiet agreement, seeming to forget that there are 6 of us. I look over at Stella, whose eyes are beginning to water. I've had it. No one, not even witches, will make my best friend cry. I don't care how much of a passivist these girls are, I am getting that ring back, with or without them.
"By taking them by surprise," I say angrily. The girls all look over at me and I stand up, "I know you all aren't great at fighting, nor do you want to, but I've been training to fight since before I could talk."
"But fairies are meant to defend, not attack!" Flora replies.
"The Trix have attacked. They stole Stella's ring first. We are defending her property." I'm not sure how much of that is technically correct, but it seems to convince most of the girls.
"But how are we supposed to attack or defend" Musa asks.
"We can ambush them at cloud tower." I reply bluntly, the girls fall silent for a moment, I can feel the nervous energy radiating off of them and I'm almost certain they're going to change their minds or backtrack.
"Yes! Right into the lions den!" Stella beams "But are you really sure it's the right thing to do?" She asks after Flora shoots her a look.
"Relax, we'll come up with a fool-proof plan, you'll see," Tecna assures her, then she give me a stern nod.
"Remember the tunnels under schools?" I ask, the girls nod, "We can use those to sneak in."
"Well, that settles it, then," Bloom says, standing, "Tonight when the whole of Alfea is asleep, the Winx will go into action!" The girls all cheer, I wince slightly when she mentions the group name. But I am appreciative. Stella will get her ring back, even if it's the last thing I do.
A/N: I'm sure you can tell that this chapter is slightly rushed, but it's out!!!
I'm sorry I've been gone for so long, but life is chaos and sometimes I have to prioritise, lol. But I should be good for while, except I am moving house this month, but it won't interfere too much. Thank you to everyone who has stuck with me and this story. If I need to say it again, I will but: THIS STORY WILL BE CONTINUED!!!
