Chapter 7
WHITE LILY

The first light of dawn crept through the gaps in the curtains, casting a soft, golden glow across the bedroom. Birds outside the window began their morning song. Muichiro stirred in his bed, the warmth of the morning sun slowly waking him from sleep. He stretched, feeling the coolness of the sheets against his skin, and opened his eyes to the peaceful stillness of a spring morning.

Muichiro's footsteps echoed softly in the quiet room as he approached (Name), who was sleeping soundly against the wall, her knees pulled up to her chest. He paused, his gaze lingering on her peaceful face, illuminated by the soft glow of the lantern.

He stared at the girl for a moment with a blank face, trying to remember her face. Just then, fragments of memories of their earlier encounter flooded his mind—the hurt in her eyes when he confessed he didn't remember her, the way her expression looked like she was going to have a break down. Despite not recalling her, there was something about her that felt strangely familiar, a tug at the edges of his consciousness that he couldn't quite place.

She was definitely familiar.

'She said her name was a gift. Who was it from again?'

He recalled how happy she became at the mention of her name. He wanted to know who was able to evoke such bright expressions on her face. Her expression was so lovely that he wanted to see it again.

With a blank look on his face, Muichiro set to work, preparing his futon and folding back the warm blanket. Carefully, he draped it over (Name), tucking her in with a tender touch. The softness of her breaths and the faint hint of a smile on her lips eased the ache in his heart, stirring a sense of protectiveness within him.

As he folded his own futon nearby, Muichiro couldn't shake the feeling that their connection ran deeper than mere memory.

Her words echoed in his thoughts—how her name was a gift, something to cherish. It was a simple statement, but it held a weight that lingered in the corners of his mind.

Ever since he came here, curiosity was something he doesn't feel often, his head was like a blank space. He did not have any thoughts that much. For the first time in what felt like ages, curiosity stirred within him. He couldn't explain it, but something about (Name) had sparked a flicker of a familiar feeling that he couldn't quite discern.

'Because she felt so familiar...'

Pushing aside the lingering thoughts and emotions, Muichiro rose from his spot near (Name) and silently made his way to the training grounds. The cool morning air brushed against his skin, invigorating him as he focused on the familiar routine of his sword practice.

With each precise movement, he channeled his energy into the training, letting the rhythm of his swordplay soothe his restless mind. The sound of wood hitting the dummy echoed in the quiet courtyard, a steady cadence that grounded him in the present moment.

As the sun rose higher in the sky, Muichiro's movements grew more fluid and confident. The weight of his thoughts seemed to lift with each swing of his sword, it was as if he was driven by a hatred and determination in his heart that even he didn't know existed

In the evening, you received an errand from Shinobu to buy her some herbs from the Kumo village. And Muichiro had tagged along with you, which you were happy about.

"That stall...don't you like that food over there?"

Muichiro points at a stall nearby.

His words made you extremely happy. Eyes shining you whipped your head at Muichiro, both surprise and happiness radiating off of you. Muichiro couldn't help but feel a sense of content washing over him as he witnessed your bright expression, although his face was expressionless as ever.

"You remembered what I told you...! Come on, let's go enjoy it together!" You beamed at the young boy, who looks at you softly. Dragging him along, you took him towards the stall.

"For two, please."

"Coming right up!"

The stall owner enthusiastically started to prepare the snacks. The delicious smell was definitely making you hungry. You gave Muichiro his share before sitting down beside him to enjoy the food.

But then, you felt someone bump onto you, causing you to drop your food to the ground with a loud clutter. Muichiro's eyes narrowed as he witnessed the scene.

It was a group of drunken men, who received the stall owner's glare at the commotion. You felt your irritation gwaked at you but not in a mood to argue, you ignore them.

Deciding not to acknowledge their grumbles, you bent down to retrieve the fallen snack when suddenly, Muichiro stepped forward, his usually calm demeanor replaced by a cold glare. With a swift motion, he intercepted the men, sending them flying backward with a powerful shove.

'Wow... Look at him go..'

You stare at the flying man in amusement.

The drunken men recoiled in surprise, their expressions shifting from arrogance to bewilderment as they struggled to regain their balance. Muichiro's presence loomed over them, a silent warning against further aggression.

Some of them did not take this very good and charged at him, only to get sent flying away one by one. They looked definitely sober now, just unconscious.

'He...became more like Yui...'

You did not know whether it was a good thing or a bad thing. Muichiro stepped on one of the men's bodies as if they were a mat on the floor and took your hand.

"Take this."

Giving you his share of snack, he dragged you away from the scene, ignoring the commotion he left behind.

Author Notes

I suck at writing I know 🤕 honestly this chapter is a mess imo, hope it looks at least ok-ish in your view. This was a bit hard to write because I can't guess whether canon Muichiro wants to regain his memory back or he just does not care at all.
