Chapter 14
BEGONIA

Ever since you became a Hashira, you were bombarded with missions and tasks that you barely had time for the outing you had promised to Kanao. You did not have time to spend time with Muichiro that much either.

You sadly chewed on the dango you bought earlier, hoping that the snack would cheer you up at least a little.

Just then, you stopped in your tracks.

'I sense a demon's presence...but it's daytime...that's weird. I better check it out.' you jumped from branch to branch, twirling and jumping around, heading deeper towards the mountains.

You hear a commotion nearby before there was a resounding crack and everything went quiet. You went to a nearby tree branch to examine the situation from above.

You see the blond-haired boy who looked really beaten up and the red-head from before. And another boy was unconscious. You frowned, 'Did they get into a fight?'

Your eyes then went to the wooden box beside them.

'There it was, I sense a demon presence inside the box.' you concluded and clutched the hilt of your blade. 'Why is he carrying a demon when he's a slayer...? Is he being deceived? No.. there's no need to ponder, I better kill the demon before it kills anyone else.'

'I should separate them first,' you dashed towards the boy and swiftly cut the shoulder straps, the box dropped to the ground, to which the two boys exclaimed in surprise.

'Star breathing, first form—wah!?'

You were cut off when the red-head boy tackled you down, "Wait!! Please stop! Don't attack her please!"

"...What? Huh? Why?"

"She's my little sister— and she is a good demon! She hasn't devoured anyone!" The young boy tried to explain, coughing slightly after you kicked him off, knocking him several feet away.

"Uhm, you know that's like saying humans don't eat food right?" You deadpanned at the boy. "There's no way I'd believe you."

"But—"

You turned to the box, only to see the yellow-haired boy hugging the box close to him, protecting it with his body, to which the other boy seemed moved at his actions.

'He's protecting the demon....why?'

You pursed your lips in frustration. 'What's up with them...? They're lucky I am here....who knows what other Hashira will do if they're here instead of me..' you shuddered for the two boys thinking how harsh the Wind Hashira would be towards them.

"What's your name?"

"It's Kamado Tanjiro!" You sighed and unsheathed your blade, holding the tip at the red-head boy.

"Kamado Tanjiro, I Tokito (Name) hereby challenge you to a duel."

"A duel...?" He asked, confused.

You nodded, "If you manage to defeat me, I will spare your sister. Do you accept?"

"Tanjiro! No! She's a Hashira! You will definitely lose!" The yellow-haired boy worriedly calls out to his friend. Tanjiro however seemed to have made up his mind.

"I accept."

You smiled, that's more like it.

Tanjiro unsheathed his sword and goes into a stance. With no time wasting, you charged at the boy at a blinding speed, to which he barely had time to react and falls down on the ground. Before he knew it, the tip of your sword was already on his neck.

"I win."

The boy looked surprised at your strength and then he started panicking after processing the situation. But before the both of you can say anything further, you were cut off by Ryu landing on your shoulder.

"Miss (Name), you have a new mission in Yunamaru Village, several men has reported missing for past few days."

You paused. You shouldn't waste anytime to do your mission lest anyone else falls victim to the demon. You sheathed your blade and turned around hesitantly. You concluded it should be okay to leave him alone for now, seeing as it's only morning at the moment. "I shall deal with you later."

'I should report it to the Master about this matter.' You vanished in a blur, leaving the two boys alone in the forest.

After completing your mission, you went to the Ubuyashiki's mansion and requested for the Master's audience.

"I see, I shall hold a Hashira meeting for this matter personally." Kagaya nods at you. You wonder if this kind of small matter is enough to hold a meeting out of nowhere. "For now, leave that boy alone."

You were surprised at his request but decided not to question him, perhaps he has his reasons. You bowed at him in respect. "I shall do as you wish, Master." You leave the room soon after.

"Good job for distracting (Name), Ryu. The demon the young boy carries with him has potential and will be beneficial if what the boy said was true." The crow cawed before flapping its wings away from the window side, hoping to catch up with you.

Lost in thought, you walked back to your Estate, it was ridiculously huge. You sighed after stopping in front of the large building, lamenting on how much time you might need to clean it everyday. You were even thinking of getting a Tsuguko so they can clean your mansion instead.

After putting away your blade and taking off your cloak, you hurriedly went inside the kitchen, already hungry from completing a total of 10 missions in just a day. You carefully washed your hands and put on an apron. Rolling up your sleeves, you take out some rice to make some onigiri to ease your hunger.

You smiled fondly when the face of a young boy with turquoise-colored eyes appeared in your mind. And you scooped out a portion of rice, enough for another person.

Author Notes

Being a Hashira is nice all, getting the desired payment and you also get to own a mansion but it sure is hell if you need to clean LOL especially if you live alone with no Tsuguko or helpers in sight.
