Chapter 27
RED POPPY

His attacks were endless, slashing away at everything around him.

'I can't get close at all!!' you bit your lip in frustration as you narrowly dodged one of his attacks that was aiming for your neck.

'Star breathing, eighth form; luminous firefly!' you spin to dodge an incoming attack, swinging your sword towards the Upper one, only to get pushed away with another one of the attacks, colliding with another pillar. You let out a 'tsk' in annoyance.

You felt a sharp pain on your back and warm liquid started sliding down on your skin. You hissed in pain, narrowing another attack by ungracefully rolling away.

'No good! My wound opened up, I don't have time to tend it either..!'

Ignoring the stinging pain, you dash forward yet again, racking your brain for a solution.

'I need to see the attacks carefully and turn the disadvantage to the advantage, think! think!' Dodging yet another attack, you jump away to create a safe distance, there were Himejima and Sanemi attacking him in the corner of your eyes, with Muichiro saving Sanemi narrowly.

'Star breathing, seventh form; radient tempest flare!' You immediately blocked yet another incoming attack, breathing heavily. Your vision seems to be blurring and you start to feel dizzy.

'I already lost a lot of blood... I need to be careful.' With that you picked yourself up, forcing yourself to focus on the battle in front of you.

'How can I get close?' You observed the demon swinging his gigantic sword again and again, endlessly unleashing a flurry of many attacks that you need all of your strength to dodge. It was never-ending. 

Just then, you remembered something...

"I have shown you all of my techniques except for one." Kanao sheathed her sword back while you look up from scribbling in your notepad. "Why can't you show me the final technique?" You ask her curiously, putting away your notebook. The girl sat beside you wordlessly.

"It's a focusing technique that raises the user's kinetic vision to its maximum, while using this technique the user perceives the world as if it were in slow motion." You raise an eyebrow; it sounded pretty powerful. 

"It sounds powerful." You state, yet without even asking the question, Kanao understood what you were getting at. "Is there some sort of draw back?"

Kanao nodded at your words.

"Yes, there is one. The strain can cause complete blindness." Kanao explained in detail about the final form, she wasn't able to demonstrate the form for you at the moment, but she still gave you the details, which you were grateful for. 'Thank you, Kanao!'

'Flower breathing...final form; equinoctial vermilion eye!!' 

In an instant, your eyes shoot open, now a vivid vermillion instead of white. The world around you seem to slow down, the details sharpening in an almost painful clarity. You could see the faintest flicker of the Upper one's muscles, the slightest shift in his stance. Everything was laid bare in front of you.

The demon momentarily seemed caught off guard at the sight of your eyes, 'I recognize that breathing...the girl can also use.. flower breathing. How curious."

With a burst of speed, you charged forward, along with three others. The Upper one swings his enormous blade again, sending his crescent-shaped attacks everywhere yet again. Your eyes noticed the tightening of his grip on his sword, the slight twist of his body. With a nimble sidestep, you evaded the strike. 'I need to get closer!' With that, the four of you charged at the Upper one. 

'My head is dizzy from blood loss..but I can keep going..!' With that in mind, Muichiro forced himself to fight. Himejima called out to the three of you, which you immediately understood his intent. 

'Moon breathing, fourteenth form; calamity, tenjin's crescent.' Using his altered katana, the demon performs a multitude of curved slashes which expand outward in every direction that incrementally grow in size, creating an omni-directional vortex of crescent moon blades that surrounds him. 'I need to break inside!!' You charged forward, focusing on your eyes carefully as you cautiously avoided the attacks. Everyone tried to break in, attacking him in all directions.

'Wind breathing, first form; whirlwind cutter!' When Upper one was distracted with Himejima, Sanemi took the chance to attack, causing him to jump away from the incoming attack. Just when his shoulder was smashed off by Himejima's weapon, both you and Muichiro took the chance to attack as well.

'Star breathing, fifth form; scorching gale nova!' Boosting yourself, you thrust your sword at the demon with all your might, immediately stabbing through his neck. Everyone seemed to perk up at the sight. 'I need to cut it..! Quickly!' 

Your eyes widened in surprise as his flesh start to merge with your sword, you tried to move your sword in vain.

Meanwhile, Genya aimed the gun at the Uppermoon one, recalling how Muichiro repeatedly told him not to hesitate. Having made up his mind, he pulled the trigger.

'You can't hesitate even for a second, Genya.'

With a loud bang, several bullets pierced through his body, root branches sprouted from the ground and bound the demon, rendering him immobilized. 

'Now is our chance!' 

Everyone thought in unison.

Himejima jumped, his flail immediately smashing at your sword, creating a loud clash. It gave you the push need to sever his head, and you swung with every ounce of strength you could muster up, ignoring the stinging pain from your shoulder and warm liquid dripping down from your body. Sanemi immediately plunges his sword on the flail, hoping to server the demon's neck.

'We will win!'

With his life on the line, the demon roars in anger. 

It immediately unleashed hundreds of slashes that destroyed everything around him in one go.

Everyone was blown away by the impact.

oh my god, its finally over. I am gonna go celebrate it with a meal. 

Anyway, I won't say much about the chapter because I am worried I might spoil the new chapters LOL imagine getting spoiled by the author herself because she can't control her stupid mouth T-T
