Chapter 11

"I can't believe it," Alessa whispered, her eyes wide with shock. She had been laughing and eating casually with Nyrah Alabaster all this time. Many questions loomed in her mind: Why was Nyrah working as a simple employee if she was the sole heiress of the Alabaster empire? Why was she working at all? And why was she living in a place that wasn't even up to her standards? Really, what was happening?

Nyrah understood the questioning look Alessa gave her but said, "I'll tell you everything, but let me deal with my brother for now." Alessa gave a hesitant nod, and Nyrah turned to start speaking with her brother.

Meanwhile, Zale was still looking at Alessa dreamily when Nyrah's sharp voice snapped him out of his daydream.

"Didn't I tell you to leave me alone, brother?" Nyrah said, her tone firm and unyielding.

Zale, now giving Nyrah his full attention, replied, "Yes, leave you all alone to get tortured by the hands of that jerk Aston? Is that what you want, Nyrah?" He took Aston's name bitterly.

"How did you know?" she narrowed her eyes at him, questioning how he had discovered her whereabouts.

Zale shamelessly revealed, "I've kept watch on you, Nyrah, for the last four years."

"How could you? You can't just interfere in my life like that! Didn't I make it clear before that I don't want any contact with the family? I need time," she said, unable to believe his audacity.

"You are my sister, Nyrah. I have every right to interfere in your life for your own good," he stated. Nyrah quickly shut her mouth, knowing him well enough to understand that when he wanted to do something, nobody could stop him.

"I'll not let that bastard Aston anywhere near you, not even within a kilometer. Do you get that?" he ranted non-stop. "Besides, I've already made him pay for everything he did to you."

Nyrah looked at Zale, surprised. "So that means you are behind that corporate espionage?"

Zale just smirked before saying, "You have only a week. After that, I'll come to take you home," he declared, leaving no room for negotiation.

Nyrah sighed in defeat. Zale started to leave but suddenly turned around. "Bye, Alessa. Hope to see you again, beautiful," he said with a wink. With that, he disappeared, leaving Alessa blushing furiously. He was handsome as hell, she thought, while Nyrah proceeded towards her apartment, with Alessa following behind.

It was late at night, and Nyrah was tired as hell. Aston's torture and her brother's warning were adding to her distress. Alessa noticed this and, although Nyrah knew she had to explain everything to Alessa, when she was about to speak, Alessa stopped her, saying she didn't have to.

Alessa had cooked vegetable soup for her so that she could take a painkiller with it. Nyrah was very grateful to her for understanding her situation. Alessa was truly a kind girl, and this little time with her made Nyrah realize how selfless and innocent she was.

The next day in the office, Alessa introduced Nyrah to everyone, creating a sense of warmth and familiarity. With Alessa by her side most of the time, Nyrah felt supported and encouraged. Though Aston continued to assign her tasks, Nyrah found solace in the fact that she could handle everything with Alessa's help.

Being with someone, sharing stories and experiences, was a comfort beyond measure. With trusted ears to listen and a friend to lean on, she navigated her days with newfound strength and resilience.

Nyrah also justified to Alessa why she hid her identity as an Alabaster behind the excuse of gaining new experience and understanding how living in the middle class felt.

As Alessa glanced up, she spotted Izan walking towards the food counter. His tall figure was easy to recognize among the crowd. She immediately waved, her face lighting up with excitement.

"Izan, heyyyy!" Alessa exclaimed, her voice carrying above the general noise. She waved her hand enthusiastically, catching the attention of a few other diners.

Nyrah, sitting across from Alessa, turned and smiled warmly at Izan, giving him a friendly wave.

"Why don't you join us for lunch?" Alessa offered while Nyrah nodded in agreement.

"Why not, girls," Izan replied with a grin, pulling up a chair to their table.

All three of them were enjoying their sandwiches, chatting and laughing, savoring their free time together. The easy camaraderie between them filled the space with a light-hearted, cheerful atmosphere.

Unbeknownst to them, they were being watched by an angry man. From the secluded VIP area of the cafeteria, which was reserved exclusively for him, Aston had been observing everything for the past hour. His eyes were fixed on the trio, his expression darkening with each passing minute. It hadn't even been a week since she arrived, and already it seemed like she had found a new boyfriend. The thought gnawed at him as he continued to watch, unnoticed by the carefree group below.

He watched Nyrah every day, unknown to her. From his secluded spot, Aston had a clear view of her, observing her every move. Today was no different. He saw how Izan gently wiped her lips as she ate carelessly, laughing and clearly enjoying Izan's presence. The sight of them so close already filled him with a burning resentment.

Aston's eyes narrowed as he recalled the many moments he had witnessed between them. He had seen how much she appreciated Izan's help during work, how her face lit up when he brought her coffee, and how her smile radiated pure joy whenever Izan was around. These interactions, seemingly innocent, fueled Aston's growing hatred. He couldn't bear to see them together, their happiness a constant reminder of what he felt he was missing. The depth of his animosity was as intense as his desire for her, creating a tumultuous storm of emotions within him.

When suddenly he saw Izan whisper something in her ear, Nyrah's cheeks flushed a delicate pink, her smile widening in response. Their closeness was now out of Aston's tolerance. His grip tightened around the edge of the table, knuckles turning white as he struggled to contain his growing rage.

The sight of Nyrah blushing at Izan's words felt like a dagger to his heart. Every small gesture, every shared laugh between them, amplified his jealousy and frustration. He couldn't stand how effortlessly Izan made her happy, how natural their connection seemed. The scene unfolding before him was a bitter reminder of what he desired but couldn't have, pushing him further into the depths of his anger and envy. The emotion of jealousy weighed so heavily upon Aston that he acted without thinking. He proceeded towards them with large, predatory steps, his eyes locked on Izan and Nyrah. The atmosphere around the trio, once filled with light-hearted laughter, shifted as Aston neared their table.

In a sudden, violent motion, Aston swiped his arm across their table. Plates, cutlery, and bowls came crashing to the floor, creating a cacophony that silenced the cafeteria. The loud noise drew everyone's attention, and conversations halted as all eyes turned towards the commotion.

Alessa, Nyrah, and Izan looked up in shock, their expressions reflecting a mix of surprise and confusion. Aston stood over them, his face a mask of uncontrolled anger, the silence of the room amplifying the tension in the air. The peaceful lunch had been shattered, replaced by an uneasy tension.
