Chapter 29
Nyrah and Alessa stepped out of the car, Alessa's eyes widening in awe as she took in the sight before her. The mansion stood grand and imposing, its architecture a flawless blend of modern luxury and classical elegance. Alessa's jaw dropped, unable to believe her eyes. The mansion was even more magnificent than any she had seen on the internet.
Nyrah's emotions surged as she gazed at the mansion, her childhood home. For her, it was an emotional homecoming after so many years. The sprawling estate, with its pristine white walls gleaming under the soft glow of the exterior lighting, brought back a sense of nostalgia and belonging. The familiar scent of the flowers that lined the meticulously manicured paths, and the warmth of the grand entrance that had always felt like a safe haven, overwhelmed her. The polished marble pillars and ornate wrought-iron gates shimmered softly in the night, evoking a sense of comfort and home.
As they entered the mansion, they were greeted by an astonishing sight. Hundreds of guards stood at attention, their presence both imposing and protective. A line of servants followed closely, ready to attend to any need. For Alessa, the scene was almost surreal. She had never seen such a place. Everything about it screamed money and luxury. The antique furniture, polished to a perfect sheen, looked like it belonged in a museum. The hand-painted ceiling depicted intricate scenes, each brushstroke a testament to the skill and artistry of its creator. The massive chandelier, with its countless crystals, sparkled brilliantly, likely won in an exclusive auction. Every detail of the mansion exuded opulence, from the rich tapestries adorning the walls to the marble statues that lined the halls. It was a world beyond her wildest dreams, a place where every element spoke of wealth and refinement.
"Wow, you have a beautiful house," Alessa couldn't stop herself from saying, her voice filled with awe.
"Your future house," Zale whispered from behind, making her cheeks flush with a mix of excitement and embarrassment.
Nyrah, still taking in the grandeur of her surroundings, asked softly, "Mom and Dad... when will they return from London?"
"They'll be returning tomorrow," Zale told her, his voice steady and reassuring.
One of the servants approached them, and Zale handed over his coat. "She's Alessa, Nyrah's friend and our guest. Please show Alessa to her room and take good care of her," he ordered.
Nyrah turned to Alessa, smiling warmly. "Alessa, if you need anything, just call me." With that, she proceeded towards the lift, while Zale got engaged with the guards. Alessa followed the servant, her eyes wide with amazement as she looked around.
Alessa stood in awe as she stepped into the lavish room, her eyes wide with amazement. The servant's precise movements and the intricate process of opening the door with a password added to the room's mystique. As the lights flickered on with the servant's rhythmic claps, the darkness transformed into a beautifully illuminated space, causing Alessa's jaw to drop.
"I-it's my room?" she stammered, unable to contain her surprise.
The servant nodded, responding politely, "Yes, madam. Please set the password according to your preference. Clap three times to switch the lights on and off, and twice for the balcony curtain to slide open. If you need anything else, please call me via phone. In the meantime, get some rest while we prepare dinner. Thank you."
With that, the servant exited, leaving Alessa to absorb her surroundings. The room was opulent, unlike anything she had ever seen. Testing the instructions, she clapped twice, and the curtains slid open effortlessly, unveiling a breathtaking view of the city below. The skyline sparkled with countless lights, each adding to the mesmerizing panorama. Though she wasn't sure which floor she was on, the view alone made her feel like she was on top of the world.
Alessa was busy admiring the view of the city when a voice broke through her thoughts. "Beautiful, isn't it?"
Startled, she turned to see Zale leaning casually against the wall of her room. Her heart raced, as it often did in his presence. He seemed to possess an uncanny ability to stir strong emotions within her.
"Right, the view is beautiful," she said, trying to steady herself by looking back at the cityscape.
"I'm not talking about the view," he replied, taking a step closer.
"Huh? Then about what? Oh, the room," Alessa said, turning to face him, her back now supported by the balcony railing. Zale moved closer, their faces now inches apart.
"I'm talking about you, Alessa," he said softly, lifting her chin gently. Their breaths mingled, the tips of their noses almost touching.
Alessa's heart pounded louder with every inch he closed. She felt as if it might burst from her chest at any moment. "What do you mean?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper, struggling to grasp the intent behind his compliment.
"I like you, Alessa," Zale said straightforwardly. "I liked you from the very first time I saw your eyes and your smile. If only you knew," he continued, unable to hold back his feelings any longer. "And I know you like me too," he added confidently.
"How do you know?" she asked, flustered.
"I know your heart, how it beats in my presence, the admiration in your eyes, and that beautiful smile," Zale said with a smile that made Alessa look at him in disbelief.
"Umm, I don't know, Zale."
"It's okay, take your time. I'll wait for you to make a decision," he said reassuringly. With that, he kissed her cheek and took a step back, giving her space.
"Dinner is ready, Alessa. Come on," Nyrah announced as she entered the room, her eyes quickly spotting her brother. "What are you doing here?" she asked, unable to hold back her curiosity.
"Nothing, we were just talking," Zale replied nonchalantly.
"What were you talking about?" Nyrah pressed.
"Important talks," he said with a knowing smile at Alessa, who was trying her best to act normal.
Nyrah narrowed her eyes at her brother, still unable to understand what was going on but decided to let it go.
They were at dinner when Zale pulled out a chair for Alessa, who sat down with a soft "thank you." He smiled in return, and Nyrah watched the interaction with suspicion. This was not typical behavior for her brother, who was neither known for his manners nor for being a gentleman.
As the table was soon adorned with a variety of dishes, desserts, and drinks, Alessa felt overwhelmed by the spread. One dish, in particular, caught her eye—a rich and creamy Indian delicacy she guessed to be 'Dal Makhni.' Just as she was about to serve herself, Zale quickly dished it out for her.
Nyrah's eyes remained fixed on her brother. "Brother, I think you and Alessa have become really good friends," she commented, her tone laced with curiosity.
Zale gave her a sharp look, while Alessa choked on her grape wine, coughing loudly. Zale quickly offered her water, his concern evident.
"Are you alright?" Nyrah asked, her voice full of genuine concern.
Alessa nodded, still recovering from her coughing fit. "Yes, I'm fine. Thank you," she managed to say, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment. Nyrah's gaze darted between the two, trying to piece together the puzzle of her brother's unusual behavior.
