Coming Home from the Military

I've been gone for the last year in the military, and we just came home. I had called my sister, Ellie, to come help me surprise my friends and my family at home. I waited for a few days after i came home since it was going to be me and my husband's daughter's birthday. Our daughter, Kinley, was turning 3. We also have a son, Dillon, who would be 14 months old.

Ellie drove me over to me and my family's house where my husband, Colby, was throwing a little birthday party for Kinley. Ellie walked in and i stood outside the living room in the hallway, listening to everyone. I looked in quietly and saw our friends, Katrina, Devyn, Tara, Corey, Jake, and Sam all there with Colby, Ellie, Kinley, and Dillon.

Sam was sitting on the couch with Kat on his lap. Jake was sitting next to him, and Corey was next to Jake. Devyn was sitting on the ground next to the couch and Tara was sitting between Jake's legs.

Ellie went and stood next to Colby who was sitting on the ground next to the coffee table.  Kinley was sitting next to Colby and Dillon was in Colby's lap. Kinley eventually finished opening all her birthday gifts from everyone before Ellie spoke to her.

"Kinley, i have one last gift for you."

Kinley's eyes lit up by those words and Colby chuckled, watching her get really excited.

"Really!? Is it really cool!?"

Ellie nodded.

"Super cool. Wanna see it now?!"

Kinley nodded

Then Ellie shouted while smiling.

"You can come in here now!"

Colby and Kinley looked confused till i walked through the door in my military uniform. Colby gasped and Kinley jumped up, running to me.

"Mommy!"

She shouted as she ran to me in tears. 

She jumped into my arms and i picked her up. I hugged her tight to my chest and started crying too as i held her. Colby got up and ran over to me too. He hugged me with one arm since he was also holding Dillon in his arms. Dillon was a bit confused, but he started babbling.

"Mama. Mama."

I giggled when i saw Dillon babbling to me and i put Kinley on my hip so i could hold Dillon too. Colby gave me Dillon and i kissed Dillon and Kinley's heads. Then i looked up at Colby who had tears streaming down his face as well as me. 

I giggled and he chuckled too. He wiped his tears and mine. Kinley giggled and cuddled up against my side.

"I love you mommy."

I giggled as a couple more tears fell from my eyes.

"I love you too, sweetie. Happy birthday, baby."
