*IF THIS IS NOT ACCURETE WITH HOW THE LOCATIONS AND STUFF IS, I AM SORRY*
-----------------------
Me and my dad, Colby, were currently in the car driving to his parents' house from dropping Amber, my mom, off at the airport in Kansas City. I'm 13. Amber had to go back because she had work to do back home so we were staying still for a few more days. Me and Colby had an argument already today about how he said i always had attitude and thought i was better than everyone else and then i had said i hated him.
It was cloudy and rainy already because it was like that all day. Then we started to get a weather alert on our phones. It said there was tornado watch for the county we were in. My eyes widened and i got scared.
"Dad, i'm scared."
I spoke shakily.
"It's ok. We're almost home. Just keep your eye out for funnel clouds."
He assured me.
"What happens if i see one?"
I asked, more scared.
"We have to get out of the car, and we lay down low until it passes over."
"Get out of the car?"
I asked confused.
"The car could get picked up. It's safer on the ground."
"O-ok."
I said, looking out the window. After a couple minutes, i saw a tornado..."
"D-Dad... We need to get out of the car."
Colby parked the car on the side of the road, and we quickly got out and went in the ditch. He had me lay in the ditch and h laid over me, protecting me from it. I was shaking from being scared and cold.
I'll probably get sick from the rain.
I thought to myself.
Eventually the wind went down, and the siren of the tornado stopped meaning it was gone.
"I-is it over?"
I asked.
Colby sat up and looked around.
"It's gone."
I started getting up.
"Y-you sure?"
I asked.
"Yea look."
He pointed to where it was, and it was now gone. We sat in the mud for a second and looked at each other before i started tearing up.
"Hey, hey, we're ok. It's over."
"I-i'm sorry. I-i'm sorry for everything. I've been awful a-and i don't even know why."
I said as i started crying.
"I love you and mom and i don't actually hate you. I promise i'll be better."
Colby put his hand on my shoulder.
"I know you will. I love you too."
I looked around a bit.
"where's the car?"
"Over there."
He pointed to the road, and it was moved and knocked on its side.
"Glad we got out?"
I nodded.
We got up and he hugged me.
