If Only

Me and Colby are best friends. We've been best friends for the last 2 years. Tonight, we got in an argument because he recently broke up with his girlfriend and i told him i have feelings for him. He was pacing around his room when i went up and grabbed his hands in mine, stopping him. He tried to walk away but i stopped him.

"You're crazy! I just broke up with my girlfriend and now you're saying you like me?!"

"Am i crazy? Maybe. But maybe we could happen."

"n-No."

He hesitated, looking away but i made him face me.

"Yea. We can."

He sighed.

"If only i knew what my heart was telling me. I don't know how i feel about this."

He looked me in the eyes, smiling a little.

"Is this just a dream?"

I shook my head and laughed a little.

He chuckled and looked down as we stood in silene for a bit.

"I-i don't know Y/n..."

He broke the silence.

"I just broke up with my ex. I don't think we should be together right now. And i don't want to ruin our friendship. If only i didn't feel this way."

"It's fine... i understand. If only..."

I let go of his hands and he hugged me.

"I'll always love you."

I whispered.
