She woke up in the middle of the night for a glass of water. When she open her eyes, she realized her head was not on her pillow, and her hand was on a different surface— she was lying on his chest, nestling into the crook of his arm that held her. She had entirely taken over his side of the bed, and she was grateful it was her who woke up.
She sighed quietly, giving herself exactly ten seconds to get up— ten breaths, ten blinks, ten counts before getting up and leaving the bed. She felt so embarrassed.
When she got back, she went to her side, doing everything not to wake the man. She lay down and tried to fall back asleep, but she heard him stirring. Faster than she could turn to watch him, he had pulled her in, wrapping his arms around her again.
She smiled to herself, knowing trying to get free wouldn't work and that she didn't even want to. She pushed her back against his stomach, letting him hold her even tighter.
She would have felt guilty if the sleep hadn't taken her like the wind takes the fallen leaves in the fall.

It was 7 pm when he finished with the grocery shopping. Emily didn't need him to pick her up since Daphne was back from her honeymoon and she already offered her to meet, so he found a way to fill the free time he had.
"Look who's here! SuperBen!" Aaron snapped his head towards the voice. The irritation had already started to affect him, and the conversation was yet to even start. "What a nice coincidence" Dan smirked at him, meeting him next to his open car trunk.
"Good to see you sober" Aaron answered sarcastically. It was the most unpleasant interaction he could ever have imagined, and he once ran into Strauss at the mall.
"How's Emma?" Dan asked him calmly, as if they were already long-time friends.
"It's none of your concern" he answered, loading the last bags into his car trunk. "Are you mad at me over something?" Dan questioned with a curious smile.
"I don't like you" Aaron didn't think he could say it more explicitly than he did. He knew dancing around this and pretending to like him would only make him appear more frequently in front of them. "And I don't like to see my wife upset because of you" He added. There was just something about Dan that made Aaron want to let go of all of his self-control. His cocky smile and arrogance just made him so disproportionately angry.
Dan sighed and rolled his eyes. "Listen, I don't know what she told you" he laughed, looking around and crossing his arms. "But it was just a dance" he said. Aaron frowned, trying to decode what it could've meant, he remembered Emily's face after she finished dancing with him at Daphne's wedding, he recalled how he was trying to guess what Dan could have said or done to make her so visibly upset, but now he didn't need to guess anymore.
