Aside from having to pose as Aaron's wife and enjoying his presence again, playing Emma was a relieving constant distraction for her. With that said, she really missed her real life, Jack and her team, which is why she was so excited to see Penelope and JJ again. It wasn't physically possible, of course, but she could see them now on the screen in front of her.

She jumped onto the couch when Aaron called her to come, a big smile on her lips. Emily was so thankful they could communicate safely, and they almost forgot the call wasn't meant for them to use just to catch up. They could sense the difference once they got back to the case, their smiles fading as they built back their serious demeanor, as if they were in the round table room discussing the details of a new case.

Penelope told Emily and Aaron that their discovery about the unsub luring the husband had led them to investigate even deeper and find evidence of a home invasion at the victim's house. There wasn't any physical evidence or signs of forced entry.
They found fingerprints

It made Emily remember their neighbor Mike. At the neighborhood watch meeting they had participated in, Noah had said Mike was a home security expert. "Well, Mike could've had access to the houses" she stated, though not very confidently. "Do you think he could do it?" Aaron asked, Emily sighed. "I'm not sure."

Mike didn't look like the type to do things like that; he was quiet and introverted. She was afraid to say anything decisively, feeling like her ability to detect pretense was impaired during the time playing her own act.

"Garcia, could you please check if he ever worked around the first victims' neighborhoods? His full name is Mike Mayer" Aaron said to the screen, sending his request to Penelope, who started typing on her keyboard as soon as Aaron said the name.

"Yeah, you see... he works for a home security company called SafeZone... it's going to take some time until I find everything but I'll get to it!" she answered, not looking away from her keyboard.

"Thank you, Garcia" Emily said.

Aaron glanced at his watch and sighed. "I need to go. Noah offered to help with the preparations for today..." He turned to Emily and said. Noah was really passionate about the barbecue idea, so Aaron couldn't refuse his offer to help, and now he had to leave.

"What's happening today?" JJ asked curiously, getting closer to the computer camera.

"Haven't you heard? We are hosting our first neighborhood barbecue" Emily smiled. JJ looked amused and shocked at the same time. "Hotch in charge of a barbecue? I would give everything to see that." Aaron laughed, which made JJ look even more surprised, and also caused Penelope to stop her engagement with her computer. Aaron barely laughed; he had learned to use his lips for smiling, yes, and sometimes even chuckled, but never laughed not like this.

"Alright" Aaron got up from the couch, his face hidden from the two blonde women on the screen as he stood up. "I've got to go." Emily nodded with a smile. "I'll see you soon."
