"This place is as beautiful as they say" Emily rolled her eyes as he entered her shop loudly. It was Valentine's Day, so it was a long day of people filling the store searching for flower bouquets and last-minute gifts.

"I haven't seen you in a while, Emma" Dan smiled, making his way straight to the counter. "I guess we should thank Ben for that" he whispered with a wink. Emily took a moment to think of what he was implying and realized the time she so cherished for not seeing him around was given to her by Aaron. She honestly thought she would be mad at him for doing things behind her back, but now she found herself to be grateful.

"What do you want?" She asked eventually. There was a limit to the amount of time she could pretend he wasn't there, and her limit was in the form of a customer who had just finished paying and took his order, leaving her no choice but to acknowledge her neighbor.

"That's no way to treat a new customer" he scolded her.

Emily sighed in response and forced a smile. "What can I do for you, Dan?" She asked, cynically using the tone she kept for customers she actually felt comfortable welcoming. Dan didn't answer her question; instead, he interrupted her response as an invitation to start small talk, which Emily clearly didn't want.

"Business must be good, I assume" he smiled, looking at the people moving around the store and glancing between the vegetation and flowers on display.

"Well, it is Valentine's Day, so that's no surprise" she answered unenthusiastically. "You're right about that" he chuckled.

"How can I help you, Dan?" She urged again, she didn't want him there, but she couldn't possibly kick him out there were people there, she couldn't make a scene and she knew if she tried Dan would make it unforgettable. "Flowers" he answered. Emily would be curious as to who he was planning on giving the flowers to, but she was too annoyed by him to let herself care.

"That's a pretty general request, don't you think?" She raised her eyebrows. The man just shrugged with a smile, enjoying seeing her so impatient after so long. "Dan, do you have any particular type in mind?" She asked.

He crossed his hands and straightened his posture with a smug expression. "What are your favorites?" He sensed her irritation and knew he was testing her patience. "It's an innocent question. I'm just having trouble deciding" he defended his question quickly.

She let out a loud sigh and shook her head. "I like daisies" Emily revealed unwillingly. Wrinkles formed on his nose as he looked at her, dissatisfied, like she had failed a test. "Cute and simple, but still boring. Maybe I should go with tulips, they're a safe bet, right?" He asked, looking down at a nearby tulip bucket.

Emily scoffed. "Of course, let me get those ready for you" she said and turned to grab what she needed for the bouquet.

"Your husband is a very lucky man" he said, watching her closely as she wrapped his order carefully. "I'm a very lucky woman" she replied, not meeting his eyes but knowing his were on her.
