I stood on the university soccer field, surrounded by my teammates as they prepared for the evening's practice session. The setting sun cast a warm glow over the field, illuminating the faces of the players and the anticipation in the air.
As captain of the team, I took his role seriously, striving to lead by example and inspire his teammates to greatness. I knew that success on the field required discipline, dedication, and teamwork, qualities he had honed over years of hard work and determination.
"Alright, boys, let's get started," I called out, my voice carrying across the field. "We've got a big game coming up, and we need to be ready."
As the practice began, I couldn't help but notice the presence of Brielle Williams, the new ambassador for the team, standing on the sidelines with her laptop in hand. I had heard about her from Woody, but I hadn't expected her to actually show up.
"They're not lying when they said she's hot" Henry, one of my teammates said.
Big Ben joined " I bet I can get her number before the end of the practice session" said proudly.
"Dude, from what I've heard, she's not into dating. They said that she's a bookworm and is into some boyband ". Henry point out.
Dean, " Guys forget about her. She's Xander's"
"Lie. Focus kitties. Big things are coming up. First we win, and then we fucked girls". I said mischievously.
Ignoring the distraction, I focused on leading my teammates through a series of drills and exercises, pushing them to their limits and encouraging them to give their all.
"Well done boys, take 10 minutes break and we'll start from the bottom again" Coach Smith shouts.
During a break in the practice, I approached Brielle, intrigued by her presence. "Hey, I'm Xander Hayes, captain of the team," I introduced myself, offering her a friendly smile.
Brielle looked up, surprised by the sudden attention. "Hi, I'm Brielle Williams, the new ambassador for the team," she replied, returning my smile.
I nodded, impressed by Brielle's composure. "It's nice to meet you, Brielle. What do you think of the practice so far?"
Brielle shrugged, her gaze drifting back to the field. "It's... interesting," she admitted, her tone cautious. "I've never been much of a soccer fan, but it's cool to see the team in action."
I chuckled, sensing her hesitation. "Well, I'm glad you decided to join us, even if it's just as an ambassador. Maybe you'll become a soccer fan yet."
Brielle raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement in her eyes. "I wouldn't count on it," she teased, earning a laugh from me.
I gave her my jacket to cover herself from the sun since she doesn't wear one, obviously.
As practice resumed, I found myself stealing glances at Brielle whenever I had the chance, intrigued by her quiet confidence and sharp wit. Despite our differences, I couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to her than met the eye.
"Ohhh, someone's in love" Woody said it with a chuckle.
"Who?" I asked.
"Mr. Alexander 'The Rocket' Hayes" Woody remark.
I face palmed myself, "You're sick".
Woody laughed and the others joined him. These kids are unbelievable.
Towards the end of the practice session, Woody approached me with a knowing smile. "You should offer Brielle a ride home," he suggested, his eyes twinkling with mischief.
I raised an eyebrow in surprise. "Why would I do that?"
Woody nudged me playfully. "Come on, Xandy, be a gentleman. You're the captain, it'd be wrong if you don't give her a ride. Besides, it's a chance to get to know her better."
I sighed, realizing Woody had a point. "Alright, fine," I conceded, a smirk playing on his lips.
Approaching Brielle with a confident stride, I flashed her my most charming smile. "Hey, Brielle, do you need a ride home?" I asked, my tone friendly yet insistent.
Brielle hesitated for a moment, caught off guard by the sudden invitation. "Um, thanks, but I think I'll just uber," she replied, trying to brush off the offer.
I shook my head, refusing to take no for an answer. "Nonsense. It's getting late, and I insist. Plus, it's the least I can do for our new ambassador," I said, my tone playful yet sincere.
Brielle's resolve wavered, unsure of how to respond to my persistence. Before she could protest further, I flashed her another charming smile. "Come on, Brielle, I don't bite. Trust me," I added, my eyes twinkling with mischief.
Brielle finally relented, a small smile tugging on her lips. "Okay fine, only because it's late and I can't find an uber nearby".
"This way Miss". We walk towards my car.
"Gosh, you're so darn convincing ", she teased, earning a big grin from me.
During the drive home, Brielle and I engaged in polite small talk, discussing everything from our favourite genre in music and to our shared love of spicy food. Despite our differences, I found common ground in unexpected places, our conversation flowing easily and naturally.
By the time we reached Brielle's mansion, I realized that my preconceived notions about Brielle had been wrong. She wasn't just another fan girl or a reluctant ambassador; she was a smart, independent woman with her own passions and interests.
As Brielle said goodbye and stepped out of the car, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement about the possibility of getting to know her better. Maybe, just maybe, this ambassador role wouldn't be so bad after all.
