“Are all your things ready?” Sister Albi entered Naseria's room after knocking and receiving permission from the child.
The young girl nodded cutely. “I only have a few things, sister.”
Sister Albi smiled and sat on the bed beside the little girl. She gently stroked her hair. Eventually, she found herself fixing the child's hair once again.
Though Sister Albi loved all the children in the orphanage equally and didn't want to make comparisons, she couldn't deny that she had grown closer to this particular child.
Even though Naseria didn't speak much as she grew up, Sister Albi saw how kind she was to everyone.
Naseria sighed at herself. She could feel Sister Albi's sadness, but she couldn't do anything to ease it. She couldn't go back on her decision.
Besides, she wasn't the type of person to break agreements, and she didn't want to put the orphanage in jeopardy.
Her papers were already settled. Her name remained unchanged, as she had requested with her new foster parents. So, from now on, she would be known as Naseria Anderson, from the house of Earl Anderson.
“The kids will miss you, Naseria,” Sister Albi suddenly broke the silence.
Naseria smiled softly and hugged Sister Albi. They were both surprised, but they didn't let go of the embrace. They knew they would miss each other. Sister Albi was like a blood sister to Naseria already.
If only she had another choice...
The original Naseria told her to live her life without regrets, but here she was, collecting regrets in her second life.
How fun.
After their moment together, the two of them left the room. Sister Albi carried a box containing Naseria's few belongings.
Outside the orphanage, she immediately saw the carriage bearing the Anderson family crest. In front of it stood the couple, waiting for her.
Her gaze shifted when she heard the cries of the orphanage children. Naseria almost grimaced upon seeing all the children crying as they waited for her departure.
They are not even close, so what are they crying about?!
Sister Albi could only shake her head upon witnessing Naseria's reaction. She didn't even want to show the other children, but Sister K insisted they bid Naseria a proper farewell.
Left with no choice, Naseria smiled warmly but fakely to the other children and waved her tiny hand at them.
The Earl took the box from Sister Albi. After she and Earl had a brief conversation, Naseria held the Countess's hand.
The Countess smiled upon feeling the warm hand of the cute little girl. She gently squeezed it. When the child smiled back at her, she quickly averted her gaze. She didn't want to cry in front of other people!
With a final wave, the carriage set off.
While on the journey, Naseria remained silent, her gaze fixed outside the window. They had passed through a busy market earlier, but now the road was quiet. The bumpy road is causing her discomfort.
The bumpy road was uncomfortable and made her bottom hurt.
The Earl and the Countess engaged in casual conversation, occasionally asking Naseria random questions.
Naseria observed them closely. Despite the Earl's stern expression, he spoke gently and displayed affection towards his wife.
Naseria felt a longing in her heart when she saw how the Earl looked at his wife. The way the Earl looked at his wife spoke volumes about his admiration, love, and care for her.
