P'Mix was probably right. Nanon was like a cat. He really was. The sharp features, the neatness, the no unnecessary touch policy, it all screamed feline characteristics. In fact, even his footsteps were so silent that he had managed to sneak up on the mighty Drake a few times, until Drake had threatened Nanon with tying a bell around his neck. And the most annoying out of all of them was probably disappearing into some corner of the mansion for hours and then emerging all of a sudden at the prospect of food.
Moreover, Ohm did not understand why had P'Mix been assigning him the task of finding Nanon when he was needed, and Ohm was at home. As in any one of the housekeeping staff could do it and yet without fail, every time, P'Mix would turn to him and expect him to fetch the cat out of wherever he was hiding. Not that Ohm could say no to him.
May be P'Mix was taking advantage of that?
Anyway, one good thing that came out of that was that Ohm now knew most of Nanon's hiding spots. They were the fourth balcony on the third floor, the empty ballroom on the ground floor, the small patio hidden somewhere near the outhouse and very lately, Ohm's library.
Ever since Ohm had shown him the place, Nanon had absolutely taken it over. It was as if he was determined to read each and every book on those shelves in the shortest time possible. Every time when Ohm had located the cat in one of his hiding spots, he had always found him with a book in his hand. P'Mix was actually worried that Nanon was going to disappear into one of them soon.
If Ohm were to tell the truth, he found this absolutely adorable. But he was not telling the truth. He really was not.
Another thing was that ever since Ohm had apologized, well, had tried to apologize (because he never actually said the words) that day to Nanon, things had been going surprisingly well for them. It was like they had found an unsaid companionship in which Nanon no longer pulled pranks on Ohm and Ohm did not scold Nanon as much.
Not just that, spending time alone with Nanon, was not awkward anymore and Ohm had actually started looking forward to going back home every night, to read in silence with him. After dinner, both of them mostly ended up in the library together, each holed up in their own corner with a new book, not talking but not quite ignoring the other's presence. It was subtle, sweet and it was everything Ohm could ask for.
Not like he and Nanon could be anything more than this.
Anyway, currently he had to find the cat not because anyone had told him to, no, but because last time Ohm had seen him, he was considerably drunk and it was Ohm's duty, as a gentleman, nothing else, to make sure his charge was okay.
Today had been a party at the mansion for the employees of Pawat Hotels from all over Thailand. It was a small Christmas tradition that Ohm had followed religiously over the years. These people did so much for him and his company, the least they deserved was a personal invite to his house, unlimited drinks, and of course hefty bonuses.
The entire family had been present at the party and Ohm was uncharacteristically pleased about the fact that his mom had introduced Nanon as family too.
Unfortunately, that had been the last Ohm had seen of Nanon for the most evening, only except a few hours earlier when he had seen him stumbling behind Drake, who shamelessly poured another drink into his cup. Ohm wanted to stop him, but then thought otherwise. Maybe it would be good for Nanon to have some fun.
But now that Ohm had attended to all of his guests, their families and his staff, met a few important investors and ministers and had had a considerable number of drinks himself, all he could think about was Nanon.
