Attempt 3.

Attempt 3. The Car Chase.

Nanon should have known that Mr. Pawat's attempts would soon turn to aggression. As in it should have been obvious that now that Nanon had dodged all his bribing attempts, Mr. Pawat was going to try to intimidate him as the next step.

But in no way or form, he could have predicted that this time, he was going to do it publicly.

Usually, ever since Nanon had started living at the Pawat Mansion, P'Tay was the one who picked him up from college. With the expensive cars that he usually drove, Nanon knew that it was bound to attract unwanted attention. Initially, he had tried requesting Mr. Pawat that there was no need for anyone to pick him up and that he was perfectly capable of walking back on his own, but Mr. Pawat had just given him an incredulous look, had not even bothered replying to his request and sent him on his way.

So, Nanon had to find a solution, which was not very difficult. Nanon just requested P'Tay to park a few blocks away from the main building, to which he could walk every day. It was a good plan, that worked well for Nanon.

That is until today. Because as Nanon walked out with Chimon from his last class for the day, he spotted a very familiar looking Maserati parked right in front of the main gate, staring back at him, much to his horror. He did not even need to look inside to know who was waiting for him in there.

On instinct, Nanon jumped behind Chimon and hid, quickly whispering in his ear to walk to the back gate instead. Chimon seemed confused for a bit and followed Nanon's gaze to understand what was happening. After the hero-worshipping that he had seen from Chimon previously, Nanon should have predicted what happened next.

"Hey, look Nanon, isn't that Mr. Pawat's car?" said Chimon, pointing directly in that direction.

"CHIMON!" Nanon said between gritted teeth.

"We should go say hi! Come on!" With that, Chimon was off, leaving Nanon as exposed as the day he was born. Nanon thought to himself if he should try hiding behind his bag, but he knew that anything he did was going to be pointless. He had to face Mr. Pawat today and he had to do it in front of everyone.

From a distance, Nanon saw that Mr. Pawat pushed down the window of the car only slightly to greet Chimon. Well, that made sense, he was worried that he would be recognized by the students and in short amount of time, there would be an entire mob chasing him. Taking advantage of Mr. Pawat's limited view and Chimon as a distraction, instead of meeting him at the car, Nanon tried to walk past them unnoticed.

It was a stupid plan, he knew, but it worked, only for a few short minutes. As Chimon realized that Nanon had not followed him, he immediately turned around to spot him and so did Mr. Pawat.

Busted.

Just as Nanon noticed Mr. Pawat wave a goodbye to Chimon, he picked up his pace and tried to walk as far as he could from the university gate, before Mr. Pawat caught up. But well, obviously since he was driving a super car, Mr. Pawat matched the pace soon enough. He drove his car right beside where Nanon was walking on the pavement and honked loudly, driving ahead at snail's pace to keep up with Nanon stomping his way home.

Now they were a bit far from the main gate, not as much as Nanon would have liked, but enough to not have the entire student body staring at them. Apparently, Mr. Pawat noticed the same thing, as he now pushed the entire window down, trying to look at Nanon and Nanon made the mistake of glancing his way.

He looked beautiful. No, scratch that, he looked ethereal, wearing a blood red shirt that was not buttoned properly, putting his broad chest on display, with the sleeves folded up to his elbows, exposing his veiny forearms, that were gripping the steering wheel in what Nanon thought must be annoyance. And just to add to Nanon's misery, he was also wearing his aviators. Thankfully though, before salivating in the middle of the road, Nanon remembered why exactly he had been avoiding Mr. Pawat and with much resentment, he pulled his eyes away, and continued down the road.
