Nanon entered the venue of the law ball, forty-five minutes later than he was due to reach. The talk with P'Mix and the crying session that followed, had lasted way too long. Still Nanon had managed to dress up, look decent enough, which would not have been possible without P'Mix's help, and show up. However, partying was the last thing on his mind tonight.
'And the only time I saw peace in his eyes, was when he was looking at you.'
P'Mix's words were still ringing in his head and the guilt that he felt for not trusting Mr. Pawat was eating at him from the inside. Heavier than this feeling was the implication that all of this pointed to.
Mr. Pawat and him? In love? It was hard to imagine, but apparently it was true, and this was the sole reason that Nanon had come to the law ball; he was going to be here and now that Nanon had had this certain conversation with P'Mix, he did not want to spend another moment away from Mr. Pawat.
As bold as that sounded, Nanon he had to admit that he was scared.
He was scared that Mr. Pawat was going to hate Nanon for not believing in him, for doubting his integrity. He was scared that Mr. Pawat no longer reciprocated his feelings now that he knew what had been going on in Nanon's head. He was scared that Mr. Pawat would not look at him the same way P'Mix said he looked at Nanon. He was scared that he had already lost something he never had.
Something that he dearly wished to have.
Today P'Mix had told him everything, he really had not held back. He pointed out instances where Mr. Pawat was wrong but also where Nanon had misunderstood him. He told Nanon about how tough Mr. Pawat's life had always been and what happened with his father. But that was not it. This was not just a revenge story. This story had immense hard work, enormous sacrifices, tough moments and then even tougher challenges, betrayal, life threatening situations and one man in the eye of the storm, standing alone, but steady.
Nanon had to take a moment, to say that even though Mr. Pawat and him had no personal relation, at least at this point, Nanon felt so proud of him that he thought his chest may burst.
And not just this, despite what he had faced at a very young age, the most important part was that Mr. Pawat still had a heart of gold. It was only his exterior that was tough, from the inside he was as mushy as goop. He was always there for anyone who may need him, without any motive of personal gain and he was as righteous as they came. Yes, their Mafia work was not free of its evils, but what they did was targeted at justice. Mr. Pawat always did the right thing when it came to his family, his men and his people.
And Nanon had been too blind to see it or rather, his own insecurities had completely blinded him.
Instead of being grateful that a man like Mr. Pawat had even looked twice at someone like Nanon, he had done nothing but hurt the man. If he took a moment to look back, in truth, Mr. Pawat had always been there for him when Nanon needed him the most. When he was sick, when he was drunk, when he was taken, when he was naughty, every time. Every time Nanon was in need or in trouble, he could look up to Mr. Pawat to get him out or forgive him, even when they were fighting.
On top of that, whatever was happening in the past few days, it was Mr. Pawat trying to woo him. WOO HIM?! If anyone would have told Nanon that this was what was going to happen in the near future, he would have died laughing. Mr. Pawat had feelings for Nanon and all he was doing was trying to convey them.
And what had Nanon made of that? That Mr. Pawat was trying to bribe Nanon, trying to buy his silence.
Nanon unconsciously put a hand on his head while walking.
