POV :~ KRITIKA
I walked out of the hotel and headed towards my home. Honestly, my mind was a whirlwind of emotions.
Meeting Kshitij Gupta had been both overwhelming and strangely comforting. He was nothing like I had expected — Shy? Hell no.
We had known each other for years because of our mothers' close friendship, but this meeting was different. This time, it was about our future together. And truth to be told, it was least expected from my side too.
Kshitij had always been attractive, but today I saw him in a new light — fiancèe, yep.
He stood tall, easily over six feet, with broad shoulders that hinted at his strength. His dark-inked hair was neatly styled, though a few rebellious strands fell charmingly over his forehead. His deep brown eyes were intense yet gentle, capable of holding a gaze that made you feel seen. His chiseled jawline and slight stubble only added to his ruggedly handsome appearance.
But it wasn’t just his looks that left an impression; it was the way he carried himself — or he always carry himself in that way, ever since he has become the owner of VV Groups.
There was a maturity about him— in his talks, a calm and measured way of speaking that made me feel both reassured and slightly intimidated.
When I poured out my heart about my mother’s illness, his eyes softened with empathy. He listened patiently, never interrupting, and when I finally broke down in tears, he didn’t look away — yeah, because I had expected him to look away from me.
His words had been like a balm to my troubled soul. Despite knowing him for years, I had never seen this side of him. Kshitij seemed like someone I could rely on, someone who respected my struggles and was willing to support me through them.
Yet, there was something he didn’t say. I sensed a heaviness in his eyes, a story untold — and I don't know why he kept it untold.
He mentioned needing some time after the marriage but didn’t elaborate —wait, did he by any chance imagine that I'll go straight forward to romance and intimacy after our wedding? Yes, I'm straightforward but not too much.
I wondered what past pains he carried, what burdens he hadn’t shared. There was a part of me that wanted to reach out, to understand him as he had understood me, but I knew that would take time so I left him on his own.
I continued my walk home, the bustling streets of Bhopal a blur around me, and all I could think about was our future, together. Marrying Kshitij meant stepping into the unknown, but after today, I felt a little less afraid. I was drawn to his kindness and the silent strength he exuded. Maybe, just maybe, this unexpected journey could lead to something beautiful for both of us.
Reaching home, I unlocked the door and stepped into our apartment, I felt a mixture of relief and anxiety. The familiar scent of home, a blend of sandalwood and jasmine, greeted me, and I heard my mother humming softly in the kitchen. I knew she’d be eager to hear about my meeting with Kshitij.
“Maa, I’m home,” I called out, setting my handbag down and slipping off my shoes.
“Beta, — how did it go?” my mother asked, her face lighting up as she emerged from the kitchen. Her eyes were filled with hopeful anticipation, a look that made my heart ache a little.
“It went well, Maa,” I began, trying to keep my tone light.
“Kshitij is...” praising your fiancèe ? — “he's very understanding. We talked about a lot of things.”
