After I dropped Kritika off at her mother's house for the pag-phere ceremony, I don't know why but I felt a twinge of disappointment. I had taken the weekend off, looking forward to spending time with my newly wedded wife, as suggested by my— but I hadn't realized she would be staying back.

After dinner, I tried to distract myself by joining my cousins, Shreya, Dhruv, and Aayush, in the living room. Dhruv was here for only a few days, so spending time with him was mandatory too. They were sprawled across the couches, engrossed in their usual banter.

"Okay, guys, so if you could pick any superpower from the Marvel universe, what would it be?" Shreya asked, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

"Definitely Thor's hammer," Dhruv replied without hesitation and paying much attention to her question. "Imagine the look on everyone's face when I summon it!"

Aayush chuckled, "You'd probably drop it on your foot and end up in the hospital."

"Oh, come on," Dhruv shot back, "What about you? You'd probably pick Ant-Man's power just so you could sneak into theaters for free."

Shreya laughed, "I’d go with Doctor Strange’s powers. Manipulating time and space sounds pretty cool."

Their conversation continued, bouncing from one Marvel movie to another, with Aayush mimicking Hulk's roar and Dhruv reenacting the infamous "I am Iron Man" snap from Endgame. Their laughter was infectious, and under normal circumstances, I would have been right in the thick of it, debating the best Marvel movie or arguing over who the strongest Avenger was.

But today, I found myself sitting quietly, my mind drifting back to my wife. I couldn’t quite place what I was feeling. Was it boredom? Or was I actually missing her? It seemed strange to miss someone I had known for such a short time, but her absence felt oddly significant.

"What's your favorite Marvel moment?" Dhruv asked, pulling me back into the conversation.

I thought for a moment. "Probably the scene in Endgame where all the portals open and everyone comes together. It’s that sense of unity, of everyone coming together despite the odds."

Shreya nodded, "Yeah, that’s a powerful moment. And you know, it kind of reminds me of family. How we come together when it matters most."

Her words resonated with me. Family, coming together, supporting each other.

That was what I wanted with Kritika. The sense of partnership and unity, navigating through life’s moments together.

As the night grew deeper, my cousins continued their lively discussions and playful arguments, but my thoughts remained with her and me because partly I didn't wanted to talk about movies and all now.

I wasn’t sure if I was missing her or just the idea of her being here, but I knew one thing— life felt more complete with her around, just somehow by just knowing that I've a wife now.

This was new, unfamiliar territory for me, but I was beginning to understand that marriage wasn’t just about the big moments, but also about these quiet, introspective ones where you realize how much your partner means to you.

With a smile, I picked up my phone and dialled that one number, which I've been thinking about the whole day.

Rings went on, and it felt like she recieved it within a heartbeat.

"Kritika?"

She hummed.

"Were you ..asleep?"

"No. I was just–talking with my friends."
