POV :~ KSHITIJ
You just know something is wrong when your heart starts palpitating without any heart issues.
This was what happening to me ever since I returned back home after dropping my wife to her home. She had informed me that she was going to visit some club for Priti's birthday and I also knew that she kind of needed that change.
Since, I'm not staying with her overnight or most part of her day, I'm not able to monitor her perfectly, but I used to make sure that I talk to her daily about her mental health. For example, if she feels well, or if she feels burdened, or I used to coo her and soothe her, telling her that I'm and I'll always be there.
She was calm, she was positive ..at least infront of me, and I thought that everything was going good, until Sayesha called me suddenly and asked me to come to 'Neon nights' and pick her up, saying that my wife, is heavily drink.
She doesn't drink. Never.
That very moment, I rushed outside my home towards this club.
When I stepped inside, loud music annoyed the hell out of me. But, I walked towards the corner where Sayesha had asked me to come.
And my eyes widened when I saw my wife lying numb, in Priti's arms. Again. Without wasting another second, I rushed towards her and immediately lifted her up in my arms.
"She shattered," Priti had tears in her eyes, "She isn't opening her eyes.. something's wrong with her, Kshitij!"
I kissed my wife's forehead, very well knowing that she won't just wake up if I call her name or even shake her.
I walked outside along with her in my arms, towards my car and maybe, Sayesha and Priti followed behind me. I made her sit on the passenger's seat and tucked her with the seatbelt. Leaning down, I opened her heels and placed them aside.
I brushed loose strands of hair away from her face, then placed kisses on her knuckles and whispered into her ear, in a very soothing tone, "I'm here, moon. Everything will be alright."
When I closed the door, I saw both of them standing behind me. Calming myself, I spoke, "Get inside, I'll drop you both."
They nodded their heads and got inside the backseat.
I ignited the engine, driving both of her friends back to her house first.
"What triggered her?" I asked silently.
"Triggered?" Sayesha asked, surprised.
"Something must have happened. She must be talking about something. Or she must have heard something."
"It - It has...happened before?" Both of them asked me at once.
I gave them just a nod, and moved my hand to hold my wife's hand.
"Did she say something.... before she... closed her eyes?"
"Oh God!!" Priti exclaimed. "She said...she said she feels numb..."
Sayesha cut her off, "I think she mistakenly drank alcohol.. and because it was her first time.. she couldn't handle it. She started crying, sobbing hard, saying how much burdened and guilty she feels that she is not able to do anything related to Aunty's condition. She...when we said that she is strong...she mentioned that ...you say the same exact words to her ... and then she exclaimed ...what if you find out about her condition and leave her?"
