POV :~ KRITIKA
I stood in front of the mirror, taking a deep breath as Sayesha adjusted my gown and Priti worked on my hair, curling them a little on the front.
The room was buzzing with excitement, but there was a part of me that missed Divya too. She had to leave for an emergency because her father’s health wasn’t good, and her absence was felt keenly. We had formed a very good bond in last one month.
“Sayesha, do you think this color suits me?” I asked, looking at my reflection in the mirror.
The pastel peach gown I wore was a basically a choice of my mother and my sister-in-law. The soft, flowing fabric cascaded down in gentle waves, adorned with delicate silver embroidery and tiny sequins that caught the light with every move.
The bodice was fitted, highlighting my figure, and the sweetheart neckline added a touch of romance to the ensemble, denoting it's my engagement today. The sheer, billowy sleeves were adorned with intricate lace, was adding an ethereal quality. A light, matching dupatta was draped gracefully over one shoulder, completing the look.
Silver jewelry accented with pearls adorned my neck, ears, and wrists, adding a touch of timeless elegance.
Sayesha rolled her eyes dramatically.
“Babe, you look like a goddess. Kshitij jiju won’t be able to take his eyes off you, trust me.”
Priti laughed, carefully pinning the last strand of my hair.
“Seriously, you’re going to knock everyone’s socks off. But more importantly, when do we get to meet Kshitij properly? I mean, we need to approve of our jiju face to face.”
I blushed, trying to focus on the task at hand.
“You’ll meet him soon enough.”
Sayesha wiggled her eyebrows mischievously.
“Oh, come on, Krii. You’ve been so secretive about him all this month. Atleast let us meet him now.”
Priti joined in, grinning.
“Yeah, we need details! Is he romantic? Does he give you those intense looks that make your heart race and you want to do things with him—” she darted his lips out, “you know what kind of things, right?”
I laughed, slapping her forearm, “Shut up!!”
“And,” I inhaled, “He’s… different. He’s caring in his own way, but we’re still figuring a few things out.”
Sayesha paused, a more serious look crossing her face.
“Are you okay, though? I know this whole arranged marriage thing can be overwhelming, still babe!?”
I nodded, feeling I don't know what to be exact.
“I’m okay. It’s been a lot to process, but I think we’re getting there. And having you both here makes it so much easier, like seriouslyyy.”
Priti squeezed my hand.
“We’re always here for you, Krii. No matter what.”
Please don't ruin your make-up. Please don't ruin your make-up.
Tears pricked at the corners of my eyes, but I blinked them back.
“Thank you. I really needed to hear that.”
Sayesha, not one for prolonged seriousness, clapped her hands.
“Alright, enough of this emotional stuff. Let’s make sure you’re perfect for your big moment.”
