Celeste's eyes slowly opened hazily, the corners of her mind blurred as she slowly sat up. Twigs and leaves were in her hair, and she could feel the creases in her clothes. She didn't bother cleaning herself up. By the looks of it, it was either late at night, or really early morning. She clumsily stood up, trying to find her balance. I guess I missed the parental claiming campfire, she thought a bit bitterly. The fact that no one had noticed stung a bit. Why do I even care? She looked at the stars, and the moon. She wanted to get closer to it. To touch it. Slowly, she climbed up a random cabin and sat on the roof of it, looking at the pearly celestial being. Laying down, she let all of her thought swirl. The moon was her therapy. She didn't need anyone else, right? She could just leave. Right now. Go back to New York. Continue her life as a thief and forget all of this demi-god nonsense.
Except she couldn't.
She had so many questions. Why had those fire girls attacked her? Who was her parental godly figure? Did she have any more... siblings? The words chocked her her mind as the tears started to well in the corner of her eyes. She had a sibling. The key word was had. As in not any more. She didn't dare think about him. He was gone, and that was that. No use in crying over the dead, Celeste, she scolded herself. She was so preoccupied from her thoughts she hadn't even realized that someone had sneaked up behind her.
"What are you doing up here?" She gave a small scream, shot up, and pulled out a dagger, holding it up at whoever spoke. She scowled the moment she recognized the face.
"I'm sorry, I get that it's your power, but do you really have to make it your freaking job?" She yelled at Nico. He gave her a small smile and pushed the dagger away from her and looked up at the sky.
"How'd you even know I was here?" She asked him with a raised eyebrow. He shoved and put his hands in his pockets.
"You woke up my whole cabin," he said. There was a serious tone in his voice that made her eyes widened. She rubbed her tattoo'd arm.
"Oh shoot, everyone?" She gasped. He grinned at her and sat beside her smirking at her idiocy.
"I'm the only person in my cabin, dimwit," He smirked. She turns to glare at him, her long hair swishing from the motion. She was about to argue with him before he looked up to the sky, both his hands stretched out behind him.
"You never did tell me what you were doing," He stated, running his hair through one of his hands. She rolled her eyes at him and scoffed.
"Why would I tell you that?" She snorted at him. He looked her up and down before replying her with a raised eyebrow.
"You know you're not supposed to be up here?" He said that as if it was a warning of some sort. She mimicked his expression.
"Last time I checked, you can't be here either, can you?" She shot back. He snorted and put his hands up in surrender before looking back up at the sky.
"I was... talking," She murmured quietly. He turned to her, giving her a skeptical look.
"Really? Talking with what, the moon?" He snorted. She wanted to give him a sharp reply, a snort of some sort, but instead gave a quiet nod.
"It's just so.. bizarre. The idea of it, I mean. One moment I have a normal life, the next I'm being chased from these freaky fire women, after that I'm told that there's this whole world that I never knew apart and one of my parents have divine powers this whole time. It's just like.. crazy, you know?"
