Part 6 "Love or pain?"

Zayn was standing on his room's balcony. A servant came and knocked on the door, saying, "Sir, the handkerchief you asked to be washed is here."

"Let me see."

Zayn took the handkerchief and looked at it for a while before signaling the servant to leave.

Turning the handkerchief over and examining it, Zayn said,
"This is the handkerchief of the girl who saved me yesterday. But I’m wondering how to find her because I must thank her.
I'll talk to Papa and make arrangements."

Saying this, Zayn returned to the balcony.

It was around 12:30 AM. Most of the city's lights had gone out. While everyone else had journeyed to the land of dreams, people like Zayn were perhaps spending sleepless nights grappling with their broken state.

The winter chill was gradually leaving the city, as spring was almost upon them.

Zayn gripped the balcony railing tightly. The pressure on his injured hand made him wince in pain.

"Ah!"

But this physical pain was being overshadowed by the pain in his heart. The anguish and torment of the heart are unseen and unheard by others, and that is perhaps why this pain is the most intense of all.

The sky was full of stars. The night breeze played a flute-like melody through the hidden corners of nature.

"Why did you do this to me, Jennie? You could have just told me! I would have left your life myself. I would never have stopped you. But revealing your true self to me like this has left me in no state to handle it. Why is our love never enough for those we love? Why??"

Zayn bowed his head and began to cry. The lonely tears of introverts are as solitary as their lives.

Suddenly, Zayn heard a notification on his phone.

"No matter how big the wound, it comes to us for a reason. If you look for that reason, you'll find that without that wound, the new mornings wouldn't feel as good. On the paths we walk in life, many people come and go like the trees along the roadside. We rest in their shade, love that shade, but with time, that shade disappears, and we must walk again in search of new shelter. No matter how high a person rises, they need a place to call home. Just like the favorite playlist at the end of the day. A person with whom we can share our laughs and tears. So, pain is necessary. But losing to that pain means getting lost. Take care of yourself and ensure that the reason you cry today doesn’t make you cry in the future. Believe in love. The one who is meant for you will be yours, sooner or later."

Seeing the message from the unknown person, Zayn was astonished.

Are they really a magician? How did they understand Zayn's condition so well?

Zayn didn’t reply. He just kept looking at the words in the message.

Then he played his favorite song from his playlist:

"You wished for rain,
So I broke many clouds,
I wanted to call you my own.
Because you wanted nothing,
I never changed my heart,
I just wanted to call you my own.
You’ll never know how much I loved you...
You’ll never know how much I loved you."

Listening to the last lines, Zayn closed his eyes. He was perhaps in the right state to understand those words. Sometimes, music becomes the companion of lonely people more than words can.

Daisy was studying in her room. Erica had fallen asleep long ago.

After finishing her studies, Daisu put away her books and glanced at her phone. The message she had sent a while ago had been seen, but there was no reply.

"He’s seen the message, but there’s no reply. Maybe he’s not in a state to reply. It’s understandable. Maybe it’s his first heartbreak. Love is as beautiful as it is painful!"

As she said the last words, Daisy’s voice trembled slightly.

Leaning back on her study chair, she plugged in her headphones and played a song. She closed her laptop and shut her eyes.

"You wished for rain,
So I broke many clouds,
I wanted to call you my own.
Because you wanted nothing,
I never changed my heart,
I just wanted to call you my own.
You’ll never know how much I loved you, hmm...
You’ll never know how much I loved you.
You are calm,
But would your heart break if you shouted?
The dawn knew the night would end,
As much as we could stay entwined.
Oh, when you smiled,
Or called from behind,
You always remained in doubt,
How can one live a lifetime like this?
You stay in another room,
Keeping your anger towards me,
I’ve taken all the blame upon myself.
You’ll never know how much I loved you, hmm...
You’ll never know how much I loved you."

Listening to the song, Daisy didn't realize when her eyes had filled with tears.

Seeing Zayn in this state today suddenly brought back some of her own lost memories. Perhaps that’s how the past is! It doesn’t let itself be erased in the present. It stays forever...

To be continued...
