-- Good morning. (Zayn)
-- Good morning. (Daisy)
Zayn looked at Daisy and noticed her eyes were quite red, as if she had been crying. He asked, "Why do your eyes look like that?"
-- What happened to my eyes? (Daisy)
-- They look a bit red, like you've been crying all night. (Zayn)
-- Oh, it's nothing. I heard a real-life story from someone, and it got me a bit emotional, that's all. (Daisy)
-- So, you're emotional too! Just try to be yourself sometimes, not so strict. (Zayn)
-- Not everything needs to be expressed all the time. (Daisy)
-- Right. (Zayn)
-- Isn't it strange? We were complete strangers once, and suddenly, we're neighbors! Our life circle is terribly strange. (Daisy)
-- It's all predetermined. Who comes into whose life, who leaves, it's all predetermined by the divine. He knows everything. We just play our parts according to his script. His every writing is surrounded by problems. One problem ends, another comes in. (Zayn)
-- Everyone has problems in their life. But if we keep focusing on problems all the time, this short life will become even shorter. Before learning to live, we'll be gone. So, it's not bad to take a breath of fresh air occasionally. (Daisy)
Zayn glanced at her. Her almond-colored hair was tied back neatly, and she wore an oversized white shirt. Daisy blinked and looked ahead at the busy morning cityscape.
-- Will you come to college with me today, Daisy? (Zayn)
Daisy turned to him with a puzzled frown.
-- If you don't want to, I won't force you. Actually, that's what I was saying all along. I said I'd go alone, remember? (Zayn)
-- My name is Daisy. But how did you know my name? (Daisy)
Zayn stood quietly, taking a deep breath and said,
-- I see your name in your college identity card. (Zayn)
-- Oh! (Daisy)
At college, Daisy headed to her class and started jotting down notes when someone sat on the bench in front of her.
--Hey!
Daisy looked up and smiled gently.
-- Hi, I am Rebeka! (The girl extended her hand for a handshake)
-- Hi. I am Daisy. (Daisy)
-- I've finally found an Indian friend after so long! I've come to talk to you. Actually, I've always wanted to talk to you, but you always seemed so engrossed in your books that I didn't have the courage. (Rebeka)
-- Yes, actually my father is Indian but my mom is British. And what will I do? The reason I'm here is what I'll do! (Daisy)
-- So, you won't talk to anyone? (Rebeka)
-- What will I talk about? Everyone here talks about expensive clothes, bags, and accessories. I have no interest in making myself a laughingstock. I want to study with a scholarship. The farther I stay away from them, the better, maybe. (Daisy)
-- Will you be my friend? (Rebeka)
-- But I'm not like the others in class. I have no connection with you either. I don't want to be friends with someone just for the sake of it. What will you do? (Daisy)
Rebeka got up and left. Daisy sighed and started writing again.
-- I can't finish so much food alone. Will you eat some of my lunch? Please! (Rebeka asked with her lunch box in hand)
Daisy smiled and became friends with her.
-- Are you new to this college too? (Daisy)
-- No, I've been studying here since my first year. You just got admitted this year, right? (Rebeka)
-- Yes, you are right. (Daisy)
-- So, you don't know anything. (Rebeka)
-- What don't I know? (Daisy)
-- Okay, are you involved in any way with sports? (Rebeka)
-- Not really, but why? (Daisy)
-- What nonsense are you talking about, Rebeka! (A boy came and put his hand on Rebeka's shoulder and said)
-- Daisy, this is Addy. And Addy look she is my new friend. (Rebeka)
Daisy smiled and shook hands with the boy.
-- Are you Rebeka's friend? I am also her friend. So, we are both each other's friends! That's cool! (Addy)
-- Oh my! Just seeing a beautiful girl and you're already starting! (Rebeka)
-- Rebeka, please! Is she new to this college? (Addy)
-- Yes. (Daisy)
-- Daisy, won't you believe that apart from Addy and me, no one else in our batch understands or speaks hindi! What a hassle! (Rebeka)
-- Now Daisy is also joining our group. No more pressure. (Addy)
-- So, both of you are studying computer science? (Daisy)
-- Yes. What about you? (Addy)
-- Yes. Then it's good. I didn't have any friends in this college for so long. (Daisy)
-- Our conversation is over and there is no more problem. (Rebeka)As soon as college was over, Daisy and Rebeka left together. Suddenly Daisy noticed that Zayn was standing in front of the college gate.
-- Daisy, I have something to tell you. (Zayn)
-- With me? (Daisy)
-- Hmm. Urgent. (Zayn)
-- Okay, you go, I'm going. (Daisy)
Zayn, as he left, Rebeka said,
-- Who is this Daisy, the guy? Your boyfriend! How handsome!!! (Rebeka)
-- What are you saying all this? He's not my boyfriend. (Daisy)
-- Then? (Rebeka)
-- Mine...(Daisy)
-- Acquainted? (Addy)
-- And what else. Ok then, Bye. (Daisy)
With that, she left. After leaving college, Daisy saw Zayn standing in front of a lamppost across the street.
She approached and stood in front of him.
-- What happened? What will you say? (Daisy)
-- Sorry. I felt bad about what I said in the morning so I'm sorry. (Zayn)
-- I've long forgotten that. No need to apologize. (Daisy)
-- Even though you forgot, I felt bad so I apologized. Let's go. (Zayn)
-- Wait. I'm also going. We'll go in the same direction when we go together. (Daisy started walking alongside Zayn)
-- Will you go with me? Won't you feel bad? (Zayn)
-- Why? Why would I feel bad? (Daisy)
-- Because you don't particularly like that person. (Zayn)
-- Who said that? (Daisy)
-- Who else will say! I'm saying it myself. Actually, you always get annoyed with me and I act like a fool, so what else! (Zayn)
-- That's what you said right. If you weren't a fool, you wouldn't have known beforehand whether I liked or disliked something. To know if someone likes or dislikes something, you have to mingle with them, get to know them! You should understand whether someone likes or dislikes something! (Daisy)
-- You sometimes speak quite maturely! (Zayn)
-- You become immature quite often, that's why! (Daisy looked at him and said)
He laughed slightly.To be continued...
