Chapter Thirteen
Erin
"We must embrace pain and burn it as fuel for our journey."
(Kenji Miyazawa.)
My date with Caleb Farrington had gone amazingly spectacular, who would have guessed that a quiet, mousy girl like me would end up with the quarterback captain of the football team, that combination was about as expected as a prince with a servant. I marveled upon the bracelet Caleb had bought for me, it was beautiful. Caleb had driven me home after eating and walking at the park. I had kissed him, I had been kissed in return.
The kiss was incredible, it took my breath away and left me yearning for more. I was aflame as I succumbed to the passion that I felt for Caleb, now I definitely knew that he liked me as well. I had my hands in his hair, something I had dreamed of doing a countless number of nights, I was sitting on top of him with my hair covering his face as I kissed him even more, we became a part of each others essence. Caleb was my soulmate, I knew it to be true I could feel the love that radiated when I was around him and surely he could feel the immense love that I emitted for him.
Once he dropped me off at home, giving me a small goodbye kiss that sent my hormones haywire, I unlocked the front door. Granny would love to hear about my night, the Alzheimer's was getting worse even with the medication the doctor had said that constant conversation would help her to not be as forgetful. Sometimes granny would forget my name, other times she wouldn't recognize me at all. I shivered at the memory of having granny call the cops on me, she had thought I was a burglar who had broken into her home for a bite to eat.
I stepped inside and was blinded by the brightness of the light inside, it took my eyes a while to adjust to it. What I saw made me forget the wonderful night I had just experienced, granny was sitting in the recliner and around her stood a man and woman I have never seen. The woman had blonde hair and looked feline, she wore leather pants and a black tank top, her hair was loose around her. She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen, the man was just as handsome as she was beautiful. He had a goatee, his hair was shoulder length and black, his muscles were visibly seen under the small black t-shirt and even smaller leather jacket he wore. They both had crimson eyes, the sight of them unnerved me. The woman smirked as she saw me, the man remained impassive, almost robotic.
"Who are you my pretty?" the man asked, his accent I couldn't place.
"My name's Erin, Erin Newton." I sputtered, as I spoke I inched closer to the phone on my left.
"Try it and we'll see how strong your grandmother here is." the woman commented as she saw me heading towards the phone, her accent too was unrecognizable.
"So you're Erin. You're Caleb's girlfriend, I see he has good taste in women." he praised me, the woman snarled when the man said this making him chuckle.
"How do you know Caleb?" I asked, hopefully I could distract them for I had noticed grannies attempts to stand without being noticed.
"We know everything about Caleb and Calvin Moore. Now my dear Erin you will tell me what our dear Caleb is able to do." the man demanded.
"I don't know what you're talking about, you said you knew everything about Caleb and Calvin."
"My dear little one, some things are unknown even to us ancient ones." he rebutted.
Granny rose from the chair and launched herself at the man, both of them had their backs turned and hadn't expected what granny had done.
"Run Erin!" granny yelled.
She was tossed off of the man like a pillow, and was sent crashing into the wall, the ominous crack ricocheted off the walls of the loving room. She landed in a crumpled pile on the floor, her arms, legs and neck were bent in grotesque angles.
"Granny, get up! GET UP!" I screamed, I ran forward and cradled grannies head in my arms. Something snapped and I placed her head back on the floor. Grannies eyes remained open, the light in them that signified life was absent. Her blood pooled around her, tainting her white nightgown in thick, red blood. I stood and ran to the phone, before I picked it up I was sent flying into the recliner, my wrist snapped as I landed on it. I stood up and was appaled at seeing the other woman cradling my granny and licking the blood off of the floor, the man turned and saw the woman as well.
"Tanaya please, try to control your nature. The blood is appealing but we're here for other reasons. If you must, go ahead but do away with the body after you've finished."
"Please don't hurt me. I haven't done anything." I pleaded through the tears running down my face, they were due to the fear and the throbbing blinding pain coming from my broken wrist.
"We're not going to hurt you, darling but you are an essentail piece of our plan."
I headed for the kitchen to grab a knife, anything to defend myself with but I was stopped short when I saw the man standing in the kitchen. I headed towards the back door but there too was the man again. I became desperate and ran into the living room, again there too was the man, I started throwing whatever I could get my hands on lamps, picture frames and other small objects. The man evaded them all and chuckled.
"Enough with the games Sebastain, let's get it done and leave." Tanaya called from across the room, granny looked pale and dry. Tanaya wiped her mouth with grannies nightgown, from out of nowhere she produced a purple rose that she placed on top of my grannies chest.
"You're no fun anymore, Tanaya. It's all work and no fun with the rest of you." Sebastian replied, masking the smile on his face.
Sebastian appeared beside me in a flash, knocking off my bracelet that rolled away and bumped into granny where it was covered in her blood. His fingers wrapped around my wrtists twice and I struggled, my attemps were futile I was caught and I knew it. My wrist throbbed harded when he grasped onto me tighter, my screams of pain caused him immense happiness, as was visible in his face.
"Someone, anyone, please help me!" I screeched, my yells got me a slap in the face that made the inside of my mouth bleed.
"Shut up or I'll snap your pretty little neck this instant." Sebastian threatened, his sweet charming facade had fallen revealing his true self.
I stopped crying out loud and managed to reduce the sounds to barely audible whimpers of pain.
"It would be so much more convenient if we just left the body here for our dear Caleb to come across accidentally." she suggested with a smile upon her beautifully sculpted cynical face.
"Please let me go. I won't tell a soul, I promise. You have my word." I pleaded once again, my cheek was stinging from the slap I received last time I refused to be quiet.
Sebastian as well produced a black rose with a twirl of his wrist that he placed within my bracelet while Tanaya stormed over to where I was and punched me in the face, all went black as I fell on the floor.
