Bonus Chapter
Erin
My eyes fluttered open and the only thing I could see was darkness. I was utterly consumed by darkness. I know it is very immature of me to be afraid of the darkness, though I can’t seem to conquer my fear against it. After my mom and dad died, I got more afraid of the dark; I couldn’t sleep at night and I would act as a zombie every morning. Because of my appearance, nobody talked to me. Not even my friends. All my used to be friends pushed me away. I was glad to have Alena and the other Chess Club members being nice to me. Though, after the accident, I didn’t talk to anybody apart from the casual, ‘hellos’ and ‘how are you’.
I couldn’t quite put my finger to what the monsters want from Caleb. He looks normal to me. Those people were crazy.
How can anybody suck the blood out of the living?
How can they produce roses from their wrist?
This is really crazy. Nobody should be able to drink blood unless they are vampires. But that is not possible. It’s a myth. Though, Tanaya did suck the blood out of my grandma.
Grandma… Thinking about granny made my sight blurry. She was the only family I had. Now, I don’t have anybody. The tears flowed uncontrollably. I cried myself to sleep something that I hadn’t done since I met Caleb.
The darkness still surrounded me. I seemed to go on forever and never ceased. Not only the darkness but the silence welcomed me. It was dead silence in the place I was. I don’t where I was. I tried to move my hands but it felt like something was holding it back in place. I, next, tried to move my legs but I couldn’t feel them. Suddenly, a pinching sensation crossed my legs. The feeling when the blood is finally allowed to flow in its normal pace. I found out that my legs were tied, too.
I heard footsteps getting louder indicating, someone was coming towards me. It was then I realized I was being held captive. The footsteps got louder and louder. I tried to scream, but I couldn’t open my mouth. I realized I was gagged.
Suddenly, a source of light poured in the room where I was held. It was blinding at first, but slowing my eyes adjusted to the light and I saw a man facing me. I couldn’t make out the face, but he was tall, and masculine. I muffled around. I tried to get free, but all my attempts were useless. The man made his way towards me. He crouched down and tilted my chin high so I could face him. He snatched the tape from my mouth making me feel a tingling sensation on my mouth. I tried to scream but the man covered my mouth which made me only muffle.
“Stay quite.” The man snapped. He then slowly removed his hand, so I decided to scream again. He quickly grabbed my hair and yanked me backwards. I whimpered.
“I told you to keep quite.” He said, but this time a little impatiently.
I tried to speak but he used his other hand to slap me, he was stronger than a normal human. “Shut up!” He growled.
There was an abrupt sound. It sounded like he was pulling something out of his pocket. Soon, it sounded like he was un-wrapping an object. I whimpered again thinking he was un-wrapping a knife or something more dangerous.
“Shut up! How many times do I have to tell you to shut your bloody bitch? If you keep it quiet and only open your mouth when you are told, then it will only benefit you, my dear. If you do that, then I have a surprise for you. Is that understood?” I nodded not wanting to feel the pain again.
He slowly used the knife to cut the ropes that were keeping me tied. I starched a little. I tried to stand up, but the man stopped me.
“No! No! You can’t get up. You are my hostage. You have to do what is instructed.” Feared by his hard tone of voice, I quickly sat back down.
“Can I have water?” I asked nervously.
“Now, didn’t I tell you to keep your mouth shut? Now, because this is your first night here as a hostage, I will get you water. Don’t move.” He gave me a stern look, letting me know that if I did something that I wasn’t supposed to, then he will most likely hurt me. I simply nodded not wanting to get on his bad side.
He nodded back at me and went outside to get hopefully water; he closed the door behind him. The darkness, again, surrounded me. I thought to myself, I should get used to darkness and get over my fear in order to survive.
During the last eight months, I was held as a hostage, Tanaya, and Sebastian (learned their names the hard way) made my life a living hell. Every morning, Tanaya would come in the room and forced me to tell her about Caleb, but I never knew what she was talking about. I knew by the end of the first month that this people where vampires, and Caleb and Calvin are some sort of Hunters, their mortal enemies. Tanaya would get frustrated with me because I was of no use.
Every night, Sebastian would come in my room and ordered me to strip my cloths in front of him. He would then use me as a pleasured possession. He would rape me every night. At first, I screamed and struggled, but later I didn’t speak a word. I was mute.
For the past eight months, they were planning on attacking the area where there would be the most amounts of people at night. I also heard curfews were getting strict around town. Nobody was allowed to go outside after seven sharp.
Finally, they planned on attacking during prom night. It would be the only day when there would be a crowd. It was a brilliant idea, to attack defenseless humans, dragging Caleb and Calvin to the spotlight.
It was night time, and we had just gotten out of the cars. Heading inside the building, old memories flooded me. I try to be brave, for my own good. As soon as we were going to enter, around fifty police officer or more came towards us with an inhumanly speed. From the corner of my right eye, I saw the chief Roger Wilson coming our way. His daughter and I had been friends, before my parent’s tragedy.
“Excuse me, but who are you people?” Chief asked.
“We can be many things, but right now your worst nightmare.” Sebastian answered and lunged towards him. He grabbed his throat and sank his canines in his throat. The Cop started bleeding badly.
“Sebastian! Leave the poor man alone. Let him go.” Tanaya said.
“Whatever!” Sebastian muttered and let the Cop go. The Cop hurried in the building where the prom was held and I faintly heard him say demons followed by dead silence. The other demons took care of the remaining officers. They were no match for the beasts.
We went inside and there was tension in the air. Alena made her way towards us. Soon, I saw Caleb running towards me. My vision got blurry and the tears came rushing down my cheeks. I stood there limply and remembered the times when Caleb and I had spent together.
Everything felt like forever, the battle between the hunters and vampires was over so soon to me. Caleb made his way towards so did Alena and Calvin. I knew this was the end; I struggle saying words I have wanted to tell Caleb for the past eight months.
Caleb put my head on his lap.
“Caleb…I…I…love-lov…” and the darkness overtook me forever.
