Chapter 16

 Calvin (Epilogue)

"I know the situations that we do every week are all ones that I encounter in my life or will encounter."

(Patricia Heaton.)

One Week Later

I glanced at mom’s headstone, my fingers touching the cold granite. The night air grew chilly and my eyes watery but not enough to stop me from paying my respects to my mother.

After the fight finished, the remaining live vampires fled, and when Erin died we ran as well. We could not attend her funeral. Caleb only viewed from afar while they slid Erin’s coffin into her permanent resting place, her new underground home. How they buried her deep into a hole, and how my brothers heart broke into pieces by his true love being dead.

Police officers from the nearby town came asking questions about what happened during that night. Students gave out versions about monsters, with absolute beauty, but demonic attributes attacking everyone, but officers just went along with the idea of a gang from another close high school coming down to start a massacre with the small gang in Coffee High School.

Hunter X being still alive, with the unfortunate events of prom made him uncomfortable. He talked to me and Caleb of how he managed to escape from his house using the back door. How he did not show up right away to us, because he went to talk to some hunters for a decision to be done about us, and now about Alena as well.

Alena confessed to me later when Erin's burial was over about how she carried the mark (tattoo) of a hunter in the lower part of her right ankle. She didn't speak much about her origins or of how she learned about her being a hunter, about us the Moore twins, but of how later she would explain everything.

Right now keeping our identities a secret has been the main priority.

"Hey there you are." Acaeus’ angelic voice cut through my thoughts making me turn to face him.

Tears dwelled in my eyes battling to come out. "We are leaving at midnight to Congo." Acaeus barely eyed me as if thinking of what to say.

The hunter’s decision relied on Caleb, Alena and me attending the only hunter academy for further training in Congo, Africa.

"Where are you going?"

"I cannot say, for you are still my enemy."

Acaeus stepped closer to me with his unnatural speed and grabbed my chin with his delightfully strong fingers making my hazel eyes link with his black eyes.

"Do you still not believe in my loyalty?"

"I do, but a war has been declared by The Eternals to us hunters."

"A war I'm willing to fight along with you, because I no longer belong with them."

"Why Acaeus? Why are you willing to sacrifice everything to be with me? Your duty was to kill me, but you couldn't do it why?"

"I will follow you far and wide, to be with you keeping the promise to protect you."

Our lips were inches apart from each other; our labored breath in each of our faces. "Why Acaeus?"

Acaeus' lips attached to mine answered my question. He would protect me for he loved me as much as I loved him. I would train hard for my purpose as a hunter, in order to see a tomorrow for Acaeus and me. A tomorrow full of serenity and tranquility, one that's not tainted with blood. To live longer the encounter with my brother and I do not regret my encounter with Acaeus for I love him and I would love him for eternity.
