Chapter Twenty Three:
It had been a month and a few weeks since, and (Y/N) found herself discussing her schedule with Shinobu.
As they reviewed the progress of various patients, Shinobu noted, "Giyu has made amazing progress. He can be discharged tomorrow once he's finished with his final aqua therapy session."
(Y/N) smiled, though a hint of sadness lingered in her eyes. "I'm really glad to hear that," she said. But internally, she thought—
At the same time, I'm a little bit sad because I won't be able to see Giyu as often anymore.
She thanked Shinobu for her time and excused herself, mentioning that she had another patient to tend to.
Walking down the halls, (Y/N) felt a pang of melancholy at the idea of Giyu leaving the Butterfly Mansion and returning to his duties as the Water Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps.
The thought of him back in action, facing danger, filled her with worry.
She was afraid for him, afraid that he might come back injured again—or worse...
She shook her head, trying to dispel the dark thoughts.
"I shouldn't think like that," she told herself firmly. "Giyu is strong, and he knows how to take care of himself."
But even as she tried to reassure herself, a part of her couldn't help but fear for his safety.
She continued down the hall, her mind a tumult of emotions, determined to focus on the tasks at hand and make the most of the time she still had with Giyu.
After finishing up with her patient, the patient thanked (Y/N) for her time and wished her a great day.
(Y/N) smiled warmly. "Thank you. You have a great day too."
With her next appointment in mind, (Y/N) exited the room and made her way to Giyu's. He was next on her list to check up on, and she found herself eager to see him despite the lingering sadness about his imminent discharge.
Reaching Giyu's door, she knocked softly, announcing her presence. "Giyu, it's (Y/N). I'm coming in."
She pushed the door open and stepped inside, her eyes immediately seeking him out. Giyu was seated by the window, gazing out at the gardens. He turned at the sound of her voice, a gentle smile playing on his lips.
"Good afternoon, (Y/N)," he greeted her. "It's good to see you."
"It's good to see you too, Giyu," she replied, closing the door behind her. She took a moment to compose herself, the mix of emotions swirling within her. "How are you feeling today?"
"Much better," he said, his eyes meeting hers with an intensity that made her heart skip a beat. "Thanks to you."
She blushed slightly at his words, but quickly moved to check his charts and monitor his progress. "You're set to be discharged tomorrow," she said, trying to keep her tone professional. "How do you feel about that?"
