Chapter Twenty Six:
Giyu leaped, following the sound of the demon's menacing laugh and the cries of a small child. His heart pounded in sync with his swift strides, every sense on high alert. To his surprise, he heard footsteps just behind him.
Glancing back, he saw (Y/N) running determinedly, trying her best to match his speed.
"(Y/N), what are you doing?" Giyu called out, shocked. But before she could answer, he shook his head. "Never mind. You need to back away. I can handle this."
(Y/N) didn't falter. "I've already summoned my Kasugai crow to send paramedics to the area," she shot back, her voice resolute. "I'm worried about the child. I need to come with you."
"It's dangerous," Giyu argued, his eyes narrowing with concern.
"I've seen more than enough," (Y/N) replied firmly. "And besides, I can handle myself."
Giyu was about to press further when his keen senses kicked in. He dodged just in time as a slithery arm lashed out, narrowly missing him.
The arm retreated back into the house they now stood in front of.
"Whose house is this—?" Giyu muttered, his eyes scanning the surroundings for any clues.
(Y/N) answered quickly, her voice steady despite the tension. "This used to be a samurai's estate. It was ransacked a while back, and the samurai and his family moved."
Giyu nodded, piecing the information together. "Stay close, but be careful," he instructed, his tone leaving no room for argument.
They advanced cautiously toward the house, every muscle in Giyu's body coiled and ready for action. The cries of the child grew louder, mixed with the demon's sinister laughter.
Giyu's grip tightened on his sword, determination fueling his every step.
Beside him, (Y/N) moved with equal resolve, her presence a steadying force amid the chaos.
Another flying attack came toward Giyu, but he swiftly dodged it with ease, like flowing water. The slithery arm recoiled, then lashed out again, joined by others in a relentless barrage.
Giyu's movements were a blur, fluid and precise. With each strike, he called upon his Water Breathing techniques, evading and slicing through the attacks with effortless grace.
"Water Breathing, Second Form: Water Wheel." Giyu's voice rang out, and he spun in a perfect arc, his blade severing multiple arms in one swift motion.
The demon screeched in frustration. "You're annoying! Just die already!" its voice echoed through the crumbling walls of the estate.
Giyu ignored the taunt, his focus unwavering. "(Y/N), stay behind me!" he ordered, his eyes never leaving the shadowy figure lurking within the house.
"I am," (Y/N) called back, her voice steady despite the chaos. She watched Giyu with a mixture of awe and concern, ready to assist if needed.
