Chapter Thirty Four:
(Y/N) had been overthinking all day about Giyu's whereabouts, her heart heavy with worry. The mission he was on was perilous, and the thought of him in danger gnawed at her insides.
She sat in the backyard, the place where they had shared countless moments of joy and peace, but today it felt empty and cold. The weight of uncertainty made her feel as though she was the only one carrying the burden of worry.
Her swirling thoughts came to a halt when she heard a familiar tune. Hinoko was humming as she walked, the melody light and carefree.
(Y/N) turned to her daughter, curiosity and concern etched on her face. "Hinoko, what are you doing?" she asked, then paused, her voice softening. "Are you alright?"
Hinoko gave her mother a soft smile, her eyes reflecting a calm that (Y/N) couldn't understand.
"I'm totally fine, Mom. Just preparing lunch," she replied, her voice steady and reassuring. Then, she continued humming and walked away, the sound of her tune fading into the background.
(Y/N) watched her daughter go, feeling a mix of relief and confusion. She then turned her gaze to the backyard where Kijuro was practicing his water breathing techniques.
The fluid movements of his form were mesmerizing, a testament to his dedication and skill. (Y/N) hesitated, biting her bottom lip before finding the courage to speak. "Kijuro, is everything alright?"
Kijuro finished his form, the last movement precise and controlled. He turned to his mother with a broad grin, his eyes sparkling with enthusiasm.
"I'm all fired up!" he exclaimed, then caught himself. Realizing the irony of his words, he glanced at the wooden sword in his hand and laughed. "I guess I'm all... watered up? No idea."
(Y/N) couldn't help but smile at his playful nature, even in such tense times. Kijuro's ability to find humor in the situation was both endearing and reassuring.
He shrugged off his awkward phrasing and walked over to her, concern flickering in his eyes. "But what about you, Mom? Are you alright?"
The unexpected shift in the conversation caught (Y/N) off guard. She looked at her son, seeing a mixture of strength and worry in his young face.
"I'm just... worried about Giyu," she admitted, her voice trembling slightly. "It's hard not knowing if he's safe."
Kijuro merely shook his head at his mom, his youthful confidence shining through. "Mom, you have nothing to worry about," he said with a reassuring smile. He paused, letting his words sink in before continuing. "Giyu promised to come back to us. And you know Giyu doesn't break promises."
(Y/N) smiled at Kijuro, her heart warming at his faith. She nodded, echoing his sentiment. "You're right. We should trust him."
But even as she said the words, doubt lingered in her mind. How were Kijuro and Hinoko so confident in Giyu's return? They knew the dangers of being a
