Detective Nita Browne rolled her eyes, knowing full well that the only place her long time partner was heading to was the Bucket B across the street. Same place she was heading for dinner and a couple beers. She yawned and moved her shoulders about as she also stood up rather stiffly. Then the phone on her desk rang.
Wally snapped," Don't you dare answer that phone, Browne. "
Nita ignored him and answered the phone. " Browne. Sex Crime. "
First she thought there was nobody on the other end of the line but she could hear a slight almost timid breathing. So she waited.
Finally he spoke, saying," Detective Browne? This is Spencer Norland - Lane. From last night? " He hesitated. " You're right. Everyone is right. Something did happen to me. I was ..... raped by the same man who did it in college. I know who it is. I couldn't say anything because he threatened my family. I was scared. I'm still scared. "
Nita motioned her partner over with a wave of her hand and asked," Who is it? Who attacked you? "
Spencer said softly," He's a teacher at my child's school. His name is Skip Sands. If he tries to get away please shoot him. "
