Nigel heard what sounded like Richard walking into the room. It was strange but nobody walked like Richard Norland. His walk reflected just what he was.
Confident.
Arrogant.
Steady.
" Richard? "
He heard the footsteps approaching the bed where he was reclined up in. He heard the chair next to him scrape back gradually. He heard the man sit down.
" Richard? "
His nerves jangled a bit. Why was he not saying anything? Was this really Richard? Or someone else? Like the active Code Silver shooter?
" Who are you? ," he whispered. He felt so timid and afraid. He felt vulnerable. He hated this. " What do you want? "
He felt the man press what seemed like a piece of folded paper into his now shaking hand. Then he heard him get back up and leave the room again. Leaving terror to build within his heart. Who was that? What did he want? And what did he give him?
Nigel was still sitting up in his hospital bed, holding the paper and looking frightened when Richard walked into the room.
" Nigel? ," he asked. " You look odd. Are you well ? Do you need me to get a doctor or nurse? "
Nigel shook his head and held out the paper. " Someone came in and gave me this. I don't know if it was a man or a woman. It moved like a man. I thought it was you. They never said anything. "
Richard took the folded paper and quickly opened it.
It read ," For Spencer. See how easy it is to get to the people in your life. "
