Both brothers sat comfortably on Jimin's bed, the warmth of the long-lost family finally settling between them. The room was quiet, save for the rhythmic ticking of the clock and the occasional rustle of the night breeze slipping through the slightly open window. Jimin, who had been basking in the comforting presence of his elder brother, suddenly voiced the question that had been lingering in his heart for so long.
"Umm, Hyung..." He hesitated, his voice laced with curiosity and lingering disbelief. "Everything makes sense now, but I still want to know... how did you find me? I mean, I waited for you for so long, but slowly, all my hopes started fading away..."
Mingyu glanced at his younger brother, a fond smile playing on his lips. He could see the unspoken emotions swirling in Jimin's eyes, pain, longing, and a touch of relief. Letting out a soft chuckle, he ruffled Jimin's hair before answering, his voice warm yet filled with the weight of past struggles.
"Aww, my little mochi has struggled so much, hasn't he?" Mingyu sighed before continuing, his tone turning more serious. "After everything settled on our end, we immediately started looking for you, everywhere. And when I say everywhere, I mean every country we could think of. But no matter how much we searched, there was no trace of you. After all, we had given you a huge amount of money so that you could live peacefully, without needing to worry about us."
He paused, the memories flashing before his eyes. "Days turned into months, and months into years, but still, our men couldn't find a single clue about your whereabouts. Mom, Dad, and I... we were devastated. Mom cried every night, repeating the same words over and over while clinging to us, 'Please bring my mochi back. I can't live without him anymore. My little child... what condition is he in? What is he doing? Is he even eating well?'"
Mingyu exhaled shakily, his usual composed self cracking as he recalled those painful years. "Dad and I had to stay strong for Mom, even when it felt like we were losing hope. But then... a few weeks ago, I finally got a lead. One of my men had been keeping an eye out for you, and as fate would have it, his daughter attended the same inauguration ceremony where you performed. She was friends with Mr. Sam's daughter, and when my man saw you there, he informed me immediately." Mingyu's eyes softened as he gazed at Jimin. "The moment I found out, I didn't waste a second. I came here as fast as I could, to take my baby brother home where he belongs."
Jimin's breath hitched as unshed tears welled up in his eyes. His voice cracked as he whispered, "I can't wait to see Mom and Dad again..."
Mingyu, unable to hold back his emotions any longer, pulled Jimin into a tight hug, rubbing his back gently in an attempt to soothe him. The embrace was filled with years of missed warmth, the silent reassurance that they were finally together again.
After a moment, Jimin pulled away slightly, wiping his eyes before pouting. "But I'm not leaving with you today, okay? I'll come back tomorrow evening. First, I need to pack my stuff, and second," he huffed dramatically, "I have some people to meet."
Mingyu let out a hearty laugh and playfully saluted. "Yeah, yeah, Captain! Whatever you say." Then, with a smirk, he added, "Fine. But be ready by 5 PM sharp, got it? I'll be here to pick you up, baby."
Jimin nodded eagerly, a small smile finally breaking through his teary expression. "Okay, Hyung!"
