AEMILIO

"Open the bloody car, or I will cut your hands off," I snapped at the driver the moment I stepped out of the restaurant.

The idiot hurried forward, pulling the door of my Benz. I gave him one of my heated looks, and he gulped in response. With a hiss, I stepped into the car, slowly pulling up my shirt sleeve. My eyes slid out of the car to the porch, knowing that Raimundo was there.

"I shouldn't have made a deal with him," I whispered.

Gritting my teeth, I noticed that my men ran to the cars behind me. They were all so irritating. Even if I had stopped them from giving Raimundo some severe lashes, they could have done it. But they chose not to do that.

With a sigh, I looked away, grabbing a hold of my cell. "Bruno, I want you to stop whatever you're doing and meet me at home right this minute," I ordered.

"Yes, boss," he said firmly.

I took a deep breath, disconnecting the call as I placed it beside me. I didn't care what I had to do, but there was no way I would allow Evangelina to return to them. I may be rude and stuck up, but I'm sure I treated her better than Raimundo ever did.

Yes, with time, she would be able to see that, too, and stop looking morose all the time. I itched my hair with a sly smile on my face. The thought of her was enough to drive me insane, and I didn't understand why. All I knew was I would never let her go to someone who would break her so severely. It didn't matter which hurdles I would have to face for it.

The car lurched forward, and I held onto the seatbelt for support. "You idiot, drive sensibly and quick," I snapped.

"I'm so sorry, boss," he pleaded.

"Just shut up and step on the gas already," I grumbled.

Shifting lightly on the chair, I was able to maintain my balance. This fucking idiots! I couldn't stop myself from hitting him on the side of his head, and he gasped in the shock of it all, which made me smile lightly. That would teach the fucker never to mess with me.

After so many turns, we finally arrived at my mansion, and I stepped out of the car, my hand on the butt of my gun, which was deep inside my back pocket. My eyes slowly moved through the property, but I saw no sign of strangers.

Well, Raimundo wouldn't be so foolish to set his dogs on men, but I still need to be very careful. I took three steps at a time till I was safely in the house. "Where is Bruno? Get him to me right now!" I snapped at the maid closest to me.

She hurried off while I took the elevator to the office. I stepped into my office, slamming the door behind me with rage. Fuck! The thoughts of Evangelina were driving me insane. I walked over to the shelf, slamming my fist into it.

Raimundo's subtle threat hung in the air. Why the hell did he want her back? Ugh!

"Boss?"

I swirled around, glaring at Bruno, who looked like he had just rolled a blunt. His eyes were red at the sides and seemed pretty manic. He had also tried to get his claws on Evangelina. It was a miracle that I had caught him on time before things had gone too far.

He lazily walked to me, his hands at the butt of the gun strapped on the brown holster. "You sent for me, but I'm starting to get scared, man. You look like you're about to kill me. I told you that I did nothing to Evangelina. What must I do to make you see that I'm not at fault in all these?" He pleaded.

"Quiet! I didn't call you here to listen to that old narration!" I snapped. "Raimundo wants to take Evangelina back. I refused, but I knew that he wouldn't wish to stop. There was a hunger in his eyes as he spoke of her, and I don't like it one bit."

"What do you want me to do, boss?"

I took a deep breath. "We need to double the security around here, and also, you would be in charge of keeping an eye on her. I want to know everything she does and when she does it, too. There should be no secrets, and the most important aspect is that she mustn't realize that someone is following her. Do you get it?"

Bruno nodded.

I groaned as I itched my beard harshly, seeing red.

"Boss, I would like to ask a question," Bruno mumbled.

I narrowed my eyes at him. "What is it?"

He seemed to fidget, and I watched as he shuffled his feet from one to the next. Fuck! I didn't have the time for this nonsense, but this idiot was ready to irritate me.

"Out with it, Bruno! Every minute you waste here, Evangelina would be in danger. I don't need this right now!"  I grumbled.

He closed his eyes and opened it, chewing his lower lip. Finally, he left the holster. "I know this isn't my place, but the truth was that I led Evangelina to my room that night to understand your mannerisms. And I think you have some affection for this woman. I mean, it doesn't make sense for you to do all these things for her."

My hands curled into fists, and slowly, I walked over to where he was. My eyes were cold as they looked right into his eyes. He gulped, and I noted the beads of sweat that lined his forehead. He may be my right-hand man, but he was scared of me.

I took another step close to him, and he shook lightly. "You have no right to discuss this with me, Bruno. I didn't ask you for your analysis. And don't even dare to use me for your crazy experiments because I wouldn't tolerate that from you."

"I'm so sorry, boss," Bruno whined.

I jabbed a finger into his chest, causing him to fly backward with a thud. "Scram!"

He turned around, running like he was about to die. I watched as he tripped so many times before finally fleeing. Oh, my fucking God! The bastard had the guts to tell me things like that when he knew I wouldn't tolerate stuff like that.

I didn't care for Evangelina like that. He was crazy. With a grunt, I walked over to the leather couch, but I couldn't sit. I moved over to the cabinet, pouring a drink for myself, but still, I was so restless. Slowly, I drank the shot, but still, my heart felt like it was breaking into two.

"What the fuck?" I cussed, slamming against the wall.

I walked away from the whole thing and out of the office. I had no idea where I was going, and I didn't stop for a minute. After several steps, I found myself in the hall that led to my brother's room. But, my feet didn't stop at the door, but Evangelina's.

It was partly open. I quietly walked into the room, only for my breath to catch in my throat at the image in front of me.
