EVANGELINA

Aemelio suddenly looked towards the direction of my window, but I slid down at once. There was no way that I would allow him to see that I had been spying on him. Not having the heart to look at him again, I turned back to the bed, only to see Erico seated on my bed.

A scream tore through my throat. I placed a hand over my mouth to control the fear that threatened to get the best of me. Why was he here now?

Erico chewed on his dirty fingers as he looked right at me. The urge to puke was so strong, and I just wasn't sure that I could be able to bear it. It was just too much.

"You haven't come to tender for me throughout today," he observed.

I held my shirt between my hands. "Well, I... You said that you needed to be alone after the last time, and I was just respecting that."

He frowned. "When did I say so, Evangelina?"

I couldn't bring myself to speak, out of fear that something bad could happen at any moment. Erico looked back at his nails and then sighed dramatically. "You're lying to me, right? You're going through all this because you don't wish to play with me."

I shook my head as I stood stiff. I shouldn't have come back to this room so early. What the hell was I thinking?

"I shake my head like that when I wish to lie to my brother. I know all the tricks, you see.... It's because I'm a good boy, and everyone knows that, "he whined as he clapped his hand easily.

I gave him a stiff smile like he expected. "I'm not lying to you. You may have forgotten that you said that, but you did. But, if you're here now, then..."

Bang!

I blinked as I stared at the door. What the hell was all that? I turned back to Erico, and he was back on his feet, hopping from one foot to the next. I could tell that he was anxious about what was happening.

"Go to your room, please," I whispered.

He shook his head. "I want to stay here with you and play."

A knock sounded at that moment and I flinched. "Look, we would do all that later, but now, it is not the time for it. You have to understand that it would be a disaster if you were seen here. Do you understand what I'm saying?"

He glared at me.

I massaged my chin. "Even if it were your brother, he would get suspicious if you're seen in my room instead of yours. It was not part of the arrangement, and..."

"Ok, please don't preach like my brother now. I would be gone," he whined sadly.

I held my breath as I watched Erico leave the room. He turned back at some point and I gave him a thumbs up before he finally disappeared into his room.

Gosh!

I hated the fact that I had to do things like that when I just couldn't stand the man. He was definitely testing my patience. Countless guns were hanging around, and I could just pick one to end his fucking life. Erico was a waste of space and nothing more.

With a sigh, I quickly moved to the door, throwing it open. Bonito, Luisa, and Fiona stood at the door smiling lightly at me.

"You?" I asked in shock as I stepped away from the door.

They smiled even more as they stepped into my room. Their eyes took in the small space that was so laughable. But, at least I had a roof over my head, so it was not all that bad most of the time.

Bonito pulled me over. "I know we've never come to your room before because of the boss, but he is not around this time."

"No, he is. I bumped into him a few minutes ago," I contradicted.

She shook her head. "Yes, he came around for a time to handle something. But, he went off right after that. I know you stepped out earlier, but you could be so lonely if you stay here for too long considering what Boney said to you," she added.

I sighed as I stylishly looked at the adjacent door. Could Erico be eavesdropping? And, I really hoped that he didn't show up here. I wouldn't know what to tell the girls.

"Ok, I understand now. But, I'm not lonely or anything. I was planning to sleep before you arrived."

Luisa pulled me by the other hand as she grinned at me. "You've really mastered the art of lying, but not to worry, we are here to fish it all out. "

I gave her a look. "What are you saying? I'm not lying."

"Ok, let's pretend you were telling the truth, but I want us to step out of this house, or better still, we could tour the mansion," Fiona gushed.

I felt my cheeks heat up as I thought about what Aemelio had said about going around his mansion as I pleased. I pulled back from the girl's hold as I felt my cheeks flush.

"I can't come with you, girls," I whispered.

"Why?" Bonito queried.

I took a deep breath as I massaged my hand. "The thing is that Aemelio had informed me that I should restrict myself to some certain places. If he finds out that I disobeyed him purposely, then I would really be messy. "

A warm hand touched my shoulder, and I looked back to see Aemelio staring at me. It took me a moment to realize it was a mask because Aemelio wasn't so short.

"Quit the drama, "I whined.

The girls laughed and Luisa pulled down the mask. Her brown hair got entangled in it, and we easily moved as a team freeing her as we laughed at her misery.

The girls suddenly stopped laughing and looked at me. I nervously downed my hysteria to naught. "What is it?" I managed.

"You need to see how you were laughing right there. You need something more like this, so let's take you on a tour, and I promise, I won't put you in trouble. We've cross-checked everything, and the boss won't be back for at least 2 hours. There has been some sort of casually around," Fiona mumbled.

I sighed as I looked right at her. They were all looking at me earnestly, and despite my better judgment, I agreed to come with them. They were so happy as we made our way out of the room. It was thrilling to see things like this resurface.

Maybe, my fate wasn't so bad because I'd escaped a toxic situation back there. Erico would never get me to do that crap again with him.
