AEMELIO

The warehouse was so dark, and I couldn't see anything at all for a moment. I held the gun closer to my thigh as I tuned my ears to pick out any form of weird sound. Bruno had informed me that the boys had been kidnapped here.

Towards the left, I picked up some distorted sounds that made no sense. Could someone be there? I can't take a risk.

Slowly, I made my way to the back of the abandoned crate and stooped a bit, peering into the darkened warehouse.

A door suddenly opened, and light flooded through the warehouse. I quickly made my way to the back and stooped behind it. Two men stepped out, oblivious to my presence and chatting away like they had all day.

They stopped right in front of the crate, but I knew that they would not see me. That was not possible, considering the circumstances. The best thing that I would have to do is wait. I may be able to glean some sort of information from them.

Bruno and the rest of my men were outside, and they had the place surrounded. With one signal from me, they would troop in here, and it would be a mass slaughter. But, for now, I wanted to understand the territory that I was in.

"That so-called Capone, Aemelio, would be shocked to his boots when he realized that it was Raimundo who planned all of these," the stout one pointed out.

Raimundo?

He was behind this?

I didn't think that he would have the courage to go against me, but here we were, in the same bubble. Is it possible that the craze for Evangelina made him go half-crazy? I gritted my teeth with renewed rage.

I'm not going to keep calm this time. If I didn't put the bastard in his place, he would believe that it was the perfect thing to do.

"I don't know, man. I have heard that Capone is not someone who could be messed with so easily, but it seems like our boss, Raimundo, doesn't care about that. All he wishes is to make them take the drugs, and I think he kills people for it."
The stout man scoffed.

"Don't be so pathetic. Capone is a greedy man. Ever since our boss signed the contract with him, he has never reached out to get the deals done. How long would the boss be patient? I think there is a limit to everything, and this happened to be the limit of all that is happening these days. There is nothing more to say."

"You're right," they grunted.

I frowned as I listened to them, and it was at that moment that the stout guy hit the crate. I moved quickly out of the way, but not fast enough for them not to notice my presence. They were stunned at first but quickly recovered, pulling out their guns from the side of their pockets.

"You made a mistake to be here, Capone. We would kill you and make sure that we take your dead body to Raimundo," the stout guy said.
I glared at him.

"Are you sure about that?"

"Shut up! You have no right to ask me questions. Get on your knees and surrender. We are two against you, and you have no one to help you out of this mess!"

I shrugged. "You're probably right, but I'm not surrendering little boys," I said coldly.

They pulled the triggers almost immediately, and I easily dodged between bullets, moving haphazardly through the boxes. The men cussed at the way they had missed every single hit. And I used the opportunity to shoot them right in their arms, causing their guns to slide right down on the floor like they had a life of their own.

Pushing the black hoodie closer to my face, I stepped over to them. "I should kill you right now, but I won't. You're slightly useful in the scheme of things."

That was all it took for the men to crash back to the floor. I grabbed a wire that was lounging around and used it to tie them both together before dragging them to the other side of the room, where there was no light. Blood trailed through their hands, but I ignored it.

It was time to move. My boys were inside with the drugs I had looted, and I would take them by storm if it was needed. Tapping the EarPods at the side of my ear, I said, "Bruno, prepare to storm into the warehouse in two minutes. Do not make a mistake, causing more delays."

"Yes, boss," he said at once.

I disconnected the call and made my way back to the slightly opened door. The place was suddenly quiet, and I had a feeling that they heard the scuffle outside.

That was fine with me. I calmly moved in before pulling a remote from my hand. It was going to be a blast. Pressing the blue part of the button caused everything to implode. But nothing seemed to touch me as I moved in.

My eyes caught the clear look of horror on Raimundo's face as he struggled to get back on his own two feet. Around him, his people were also struggling. And the cartons filled with drugs were everywhere. It was all so chaotic.

I could hear the sound of my men trooping, and I smiled slowly. "You dare to challenge me?" I asked coldly.

Raimundo shook like a leaf as the dust lingered around him. "I would never dream of doing that, Capone."

Unable to stop the rage I felt, I shot at him immediately. He groaned as he held onto his leg, his eyes trailing blood. Some of his men tried to shoot at me, and I snapped my fingers at my boys, who rained the bullets around.

"Please, stop," Raimundo cried.

Bodies fell to the ground, and none of them belonged to my men. I tapped the trigger, and Raimundo raised his hands in submission, and I could see tears sliding down his ugly face.

"Where are my men?" I asked at once.

He shook his head. "I have killed them. They begged for death for going against you. They claimed that you were not fucking going to spare their lives, and they wanted a painless death. I couldn't help but fulfill their wish."

I grunted, as my other hand turned into a fist in rage. "That is a very annoying thing to hear, Raimundo. But I would let that slide for now. Why did you pull this stunt? What gave you the right?"

He shook intensely as he folded his hands in front of me. "I needed to get Evangelina back. She is a fucking whore, and it would be an honor to her if she died like one. Nothing is going to change that."

I growled as I pulled the trigger once more, shooting his other leg with a cuss on my lips.

"You would never have her, Raimundo. I told you the last time: don't cross your limits. If you do this stunt again, then I will make you wish that you were dead. I would surely destroy you completely. Do you understand?" I snapped coldly.

In a rage, I shot once more, and this time, it was right at the forehead of one of the men behind Raimundo. Raimundo screamed in horror, but he couldn't move away thanks to my expert shooting. I turned around and signaled for Bruno to get out of the warehouse before walking outside the warehouse.

Out of the corner of my eyes, I saw the men struggling, and I was reminded of the way Raimundo had shot the men who had started working for me like their lives meant nothing on paper.

It made me cuss, and I pulled the gun back up, refilling it with bullets in one quick move before blasting it right in the middle of their skulls. With a grunt, I walked out of there. It was already sunset, but I made my way to the car just fine.
The thoughts of Evangelina crowded my mind at that moment. I was not going to let her go for a moment.

The memories of the kiss were still right in my mind, and I understood one thing: I longed to kiss her once more. I may have walked away like a fucking coward, but that was the most delicious kiss I had gotten in a long while.

Fuck!

I was damn screwed. I put the safety on the gun back on and slid the gun into the pocket of my pants. I needed to stop thinking about her so much, or it might drive me insane.

The only reason I was doing all this was because I wanted to help Erico, so I had to keep my damn distance from her. It was the only way that I would be able to survive.
