PAUL LAHOTE WAS LOSING HIS SHIT.
After the bonfire, the pack decided to regroup at Sam's house to figure out what to do next. Well, okay, Paul made them go back there to get advice, really.
Along with the shifters, the imprints who knew about the secret had come as well — an attempt to show Paul that it didn't have to go South. It could be okay.
He was sat at the counter, tapping his foot anxiously while fiddling with his fingers. They were just waiting on Jared, Embry, and Kim to finally get to the house so they could begin talking.
"Sorry it took so long!" Kim said once she got into the house. Jared was right behind her with Embry tailing them.
Jared laughed, "After the bonfire party, traffic is no joke."
Paul was more on edge than he'd ever been and that was saying a lot for the hot-headed boy, "I don't care about traffic, Jared."
Jared's eyes overlooked his friend, a hint of a smile on his lips, "Man, you're a wreck."
Before anything else could be exchanged between the two, Sam was quick to step in, "Alright, enough. Paul, why'd we all have to come here?"
Truth be told, Paul didn't really know why he was conforming with the pack. He didn't think getting an imprint would be as big as it is and his fear of hurting her was overtaking him.
"How do I do this? I don't know what it's like to have an imprint!" He asked.
Sam's serious gaze softened. He had remembered how he was when he first imprinted on Emily; the fear and uncertainty being nothing new to the wolves. "You talk to her. Normally the first step to about anything,"
While others snickered, Emily smacked her fiancé's chest, "Sam," she scolded, "Paul, honey, while yes, you need to talk to her, you should maybe ask the people who know her what she likes. I'm not saying to change your interests or whatever to match hers because most girls don't like that but I am saying to find out what you both like."
Leah nodded, "Yeah, see what interests both of you. That'll give you an easy conversation-starter and a lot of the time, something girls worry about is not liking any of the same things with the guy they like. It makes things more complicated."
Kim stepped up a little, "All amazing advice. I'd also recommend maybe being a little less shirtless when you go to talk to her," Emily giggled as he rolled his eyes, "I'm just saying. She doesn't know you guys or how the Rez works. And while, yes, Jared doesn't know how to put clothes on and majority of the guys were shirtless today, she didn't see you that way."
"Awe, look at little Paul; getting all the advice from the girls," Quil cooed.
Ignoring him, Paul nodded, "Are you sure it's a good idea to talk to her? What if she thinks I'm a creep or something."
Leah rolled her eyes, "She won't think you're a creep as long as you don't, like, show up outside her window or something."
"Paul, she'll like you. Just don't lash out or give up." Sam told him.
Paul's eyes locked with Jared's in an instant. The sudden movement made the latter a little weary. "What's she like?"
Jared laughed, "I've known her like two days or something."
"What's she like so far?" He reiterated.
Jared sighed, sitting down at the kitchen table as he thought. "Uh, she likes to explore? I first met her in the woods, so. And, um, she was doing some photo or video editing or something on her computer before the bonfire."
Paul frowned, "I don't edit videos or photos."
Kim rolled her eyes, "You don't have to like all the same things. Just find something."
"All I've got is exploring so far. Even then, we don't know if that's an actual interest or if she just, like, got lost or something."
The anxieties were above and beyond on the teenage boy. His inexperience with imprinting was showing and he was far too worried about failing to even consider the girl at hand and how much she doesn't know.
"Look, dude, Paul, Bel's so nice and you're so...you," Jared said, eyes closing in on him now, "just say hi. That's about all you have to say and she'll make a conversation out of literally thin air. She's a talker and an extremely kind person. It isn't hard you just have to not be so damn you."
"If I'm not me, how do I know she will actually like me." He said, finding a flaw in Jared's words.
Kim came to her boyfriend's defense, though, "Not like that. He means to not be a dick."
Paul gaped, "I'm not a dick. That's some strong wordage."
Sam raised a brow, "Accurate strong wordage."
Embry grimaced, "Extremely accurate strong wordage."
Paul scoffed, looking up at all his pack mates, "Remind me to talk to her without you guys. You're horrible wingmen."
