ANNABEL SUMMERS DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO MAKE A CALL OR ASK FOR HELP.The second she heard the line go dead, she was grabbing her keys and getting in the car. Her mind felt like it was on autopilot as she drove to the location her phone had picked up.
Thank God for her worrying.
She could cry or even think straight. Her mind was racing with the images flashing in her mind of what she might find. Of what could be her sister.
Fear encompassed her whole being when she finally reached the crash site. There was a medium sized semi-truck flipped on its side with Caroline's Toyota Sienna crushed into its side.
It wasn't until Annabel caught sight of her unmoving sister that tears began to flow down her face. Rushing over to her, Bel felt her heart sink like no other, "Caroline!"
Pushing two fingers to her carotid artery in attempt to find a pulse, her body went ridged at the lack of one. She grabbed her phone out of her back pocket, searching her contact for the one doctor in it.
"Carlisle," she called out after the third ring when he finally picked out, "Caroline, s — she isn't—,"
"I know, Annabel. I know. Alice saw it. I'm on my way now, okay? Just stay there and call an ambulance." He told her. His voice was calmer than he really was and the blonde could hear all the commotion happening behind him.
A sob broke from her lips, "Please, don't hang up. I'm so scared. I — I'm scared, Carlisle."
If his undead heart had been beating, it would have broke for the girl he started to see as family. "I'm not going anywhere, Annabel."
With the phone lying at her side and her arms going limp as she hugged onto Caroline's body, Bel finally let herself break.
She wasn't stupid. Her sister is a nurse and her mother had been a doctor. The lack of a heartbeat sounding in her chest coupled with no movement coursing through her was enough for the Summers girl to know.

Annabel sat completely still in the hospital waiting room. She was stuck between both Paul and Antonio — his heart breaking almost as much as Bel's.
Paul held onto her hand like a lifeline. He forced her to drink some water when he got there and made all the calls for the girl.
Because of his assistance, the waiting room was also crowded with Emily, Sam, Kim, Jared, Jacob, the Cullen's (minus Bella and Edward), and Andy. It would look like a nightmare to anyone passing by but to Annabel, it was the only thing keeping her going.
She prayed that when Carlisle came back through those doors, she would hear that her sister was still alive. Despite what she might have felt at the sight, she refused to believe it.
Emily went behind the girl she had started to see has her closest friend and rubbed her back, "Bel, honey. Maybe you should ask for a room or something. You need some rest,"
Her voice hoarse and her eyes barely open, Annabel shook her head. "No," she mumbled out, a stray tear falling down her cheek.
Paul sent the woman a thankful look, nevertheless. He appreciated all of the pack members that were in the room because had they not been, he was certain he wouldn't be able to get her out of there when it came to it.
It was another five minutes before the doors opened again and the sound of it jolted the girl awake as she went to stand next to the blonde doctor. "How is she?"
Carlisle looked between his children and to the others surrounding him. His eyes landed on Alice then Antonio before drifting back to the heartbroken teenager in front of him. "Caroline's body went through a traumatic process. She lost a lot of blood and her organs were damaged too much. We—,"
"Don't say it," Annabel all but whispered the words, her eyes on Carlisle's and his alone, "No. I know this talk. I've had it before — with my parents. Stop beating around the bush."
A sigh escaped his lips before he clasped his right hand onto her shoulder as some way to ground her for his next words, "I'm so sorry for your loss, Annabel."
Bel shook her head profusely. She had expected the words from what he was saying but her brain just couldn't keep up with everything. "No. Say you're joking because you are."
Liquid began to build in her eyes and fall down her tear-stricken face. Paul walked over to the girl, holding onto her shoulder that Carlisle hadn't been. "I'm sorry. We did what we could." He told her.
At the lack of other people and the fact that Andy had run out of the room the second he heard the words from the doctor, she shook her head again. "Y — You can turn her. You guys can do that. Do that!" She begged.
It was Alice who spoke up now. She was the only other person in the room who knew what really happened behind those doors and thus, had decided to help her adoptive father out. "Bel, when she finally got to the hospital, it was too late. Her—," the pixie-haired girl cut herself off, complete remorse building in her at the sit of the blonde, "she was already dead."
Her body began to shake as sobs broke out from her chest at the word. at dead being a descriptive word for her sister. Caroline Summers. The same girl who had given her entire childhood to ensure her little sister got one.
Her knees felt weak as she collapsed to the ground, Paul easily catching her in his arms. He wrapped his arms around her, giving her any kind of relief he could. "I know, Annie. I know."
His own tears began to fall at the sight of his imprint mixed with the loss. He may not have interacted with Caroline much, but she was a lot like Annabel. Both had the kindest spirits and the most open hearts.
Antonio and the Cullen's began to file out, giving the blonde time to grieve and also to be there for Toni. He couldn't stand to see her breakdown the way she was.
Paul held Annabel in his arms for a long time. None of the pack members ever once left, remaining there as emotional support for both of them.
It'd be a long time before any of them left that waiting room.
