For the next three and a half months, Y/N was in and out of missions, and constantly doing rigorous training. From sunup to sundown— even working in the nights, going days without sleep. She made no time for leisure activities, and even disregarded her birthday.

That, of course, didn't mean others did.

The only people she would talk to decently regularly were Tanjiro and his squad, the Insect Hashira, the Love Hashira, and sometimes the Water Hashira when he stopped my for meditation in the dead of night.

She rarely saw anyone else, and avoided public settings due to not having someone to guide her anymore. She thought that avoidance would be the best way to cope, and as for now, it was making a fair point.

The exhaust was wearing her out, though. She trained by herself, most of the time attended the Chaos Squad's training, and then went on a mission during the night. It was a terrible schedule that left her feeling fatigued and robotic. And she hated it.

But she needed anything to distract her from the hole in her heart, even as people were trying to slowly refill it.

"Y/N-san! Where are you? I brought treats!" The bright girl squealed, crossing the bridge to the Chikyuu Estate, food in hand. Her lime green and pink hair augmented with the bright colors of the life around her.

Kanroji Mitsuri loved coming to Y/N's home. It became her favorite place, even over the Ubuyashiki mansion. Here, the nature was in perfect harmony. The grass waved with the breeze and the flowers danced in the wind, extending their leaves for more sun. All year around, the place seemed magical. Fall, summer, winter, spring. It never mattered the season— it only mattered the care and the attendance of it.

Mitsuri happily trotted across the wild grass and small flowers, carful not to harm any new wild buds. She smiled when she saw Y/N at work, twisting her naginata and striking the air. She watched as she flipped and moved like flashes of distant light, twisting and twirling like a falling leaf in a storm. She always thought Y/N was beyond elegant. And when she saw her without her mask when she had finally recovered, she was at a loss for words. Even now, her face heated up seeing those e/c eyes so clearly.

"Y/N-san?" She piped up. Y/N looked over from where she was swinging her blade, and tilted her head to look at her.

Her brow was lined with sweat. It dribbled down her forehead and onto her cheek, rolling off her chin. It fell onto the ground, and Mitsuri swore she saw it glow. The light hit her frame perfectly, so much so that she looked like she was radiating gold light. She looked divine. And when she smiled... oh Mitsuri had no chance. She melted like hot wax.

She's so... KYAAA! I CAN'T GET ENOUGH! I want to hug her and... oh my gosh! She's... perfect. I wonder what her lips taste like... maybe like how flowers smell? WAIT! QUIT THINKING LIKE THAT, YOU PERVERT! Y/N IS YOUR... friend?

Y/N cocked a brow, and her smile dissipated. She looked at her awestruck friend curiously, and wondered if she was alright.

"Mitsuri-san? Are you okay-"

"KYAA! AH YES. I'M FINE! PERFECTLY FINE. YOU JUST... YOU'RE SO BEAUTIFUL AND... OH NO... DID I SAY THAT OUT LOUD?! Oh I want to crawl into a hole and disappear..." she covered her face with her free hand that wasn't holding the food, that she was surprised to still be holding on to.

I can't believe I just said that... Out loud!

Y/N chuckled a bit, and smiled at her friend. She set her naginata on the engawa, and approached Mitsuri. She took the arm that was attempting ever so futilely to hide her face, and pulled it down. Mitsuri noticed that she didn't let go right away, and her heart nearly exploded.
