As I reached my hand out a large piece of debris hit my head as the ceiling came crashing down on us. Everything went black. Jet black.

.
Beep, beep, beep
I wake to a dull, rhythmic beeping. My eyelids felt heavy as if they were weighed down by sandbags but I managed to open them slowly. My dull vision came in contact with the ceiling above.

An antiseptic smell filled my nostrils, a mix of medicines, that stoic hospital smell entered my system. My hand felt heavy, as I noticed Light holding it with his head buried into the bed . I started coming into my senses. The cool sheets beneath me, this smell.. The memories of the incident came crashing down in my mind. "RUN! Y/N JUST RUN!" Raye's voice echoed in my head along with the Reaper's diabolical laughter.

I jolted up with a start as I was taken aback by the IV drop attached to my body. The fact that I'm here means that they found out where I was. Light frantically got up.
"Y/N!" He exclaimed. I ripped out the IV with my hand and tried to leave the bed.
" What are you doing!? You'll hurt yourself!" He said trying to hold me down.

"I'm fine , I don't need these-" I tried to reaffirm. "Please, calm down you're hurt!" Light said while grabbing my hands gently.
"No, believe me I'm okay- I just need some air-" Light stared at me with disbelief as his face contorted into worry. I stopped moving as I noticed the redness in his eyes. They were wet. A single tear escaped as he pulled me close frantically. The door flung open as L, Mr. Yagami and Mogi ran into the room followed by a nurse.

"What's all the commotion abou-"
"Y/n woke up?!" Exclaimed Mogi.
Light didn't move me away from him at all. He kept me close as he slowly stroked my back. "She just woke up. She was panicking so it's better if there are less people in here" he snapped.
L stood like a rock staring at me worriedly.

I separated myself from Light gently as I wiped my face with my sleeve. The nurse exclaimed with shock. "Why did you remove that! You're supposed to rest!"
"Believe me I'm fine-" I tried to say before the dressing on my wounds on the head came out and it started bleeding again.
" b-blood? Y/N you're bleeding! Nurse please-" Light yelled frantically.
I sighed as the nurse forced me to lie back down on the bed .
" child, you should rest."
Mr Yagami sighed as he sat next to the bedside and placed a comforting hand on my head. "It's better if the patient takes no stress for some time. It can impact negatively on her health. I'll inform the doctor she has woken up." The nurse stated as she filled the water Jug before she left. Mogi walked towards the window.

"Not to be rude Y/n. But what were you even trying to do there? "
I flinched.
"There's no use lying now. It's clear that-"
"Mogi" L snapped.
"What?! Ok fine." He laughed.
"If thats the case ,it's better you tell us what really happened in there yourself-"
"For Gods sake Leave her alone" Light let out. "Didn't you hear what the nurse said? She can't take stress right now. Give her a break will you" Light said rather harshly .

There was a brief second where I made eye contact with L. His eyes turned into a river of worry as they caught sight of my injuries and it was as if I could see his soul shiver. It felt like the words were stolen from L's mouth. The whole time he was here, he hadn't uttered a single word and now lowered his gaze as he left with everyone else. Mr Yagami left after a while and the only one by my side now was Light.

He sat beside me as he placed his head in my lap and silently basked himself in my presence. I felt obliged to speak. "How long was I asleep?" I asked. Light shifted a bit and turned his head to look at Me.
"Almost two days...." he said softly.
"Did you think I was dead?" I asked jokingly and Light stiffened up.

"Don't say that. Understand?" He looked so genuine at this moment that I stopped smiling. His eyebrows quivering as he buried his face into my lap again.
"It was getting late and you didn't come back. I should've called you. I should've looked for you. I should've fucking done something so that this- this would never happen" he murmured into the sheets visibly distressed and agonised. I felt scared for a moment really. Because this wasn't Kira. This was really Light. My Light.
"Stop it Light" I scolded while pulling his face up.
"There was nothing you could have done"
He just looked down, disappointed in himself.
"What you said to me that day... was it really true Y/n?" He asked gently, gazing into my eyes. At that moment I remembered what I had said to him that day. The hazy memories of a confession that I made , because of a man who was now probably dead..? I decided to use my only chance, and a small part of me wanted to do this. Because the man infront of me this time was Light. I raised my eyes and looked into his. And all I could see in his brown orbs, was myself. In this moment I could hear the clock tick, the silent ringing of a phone outside and even the beating of our two, twisted hearts. The silence consumed me whole.
"I meant every word"
Light tucked a strand of my messy hair behind my ear as a red blush spread across his elegant face.
"You like me Y/n..."
"But I love you"

"Misa?" I questioned softly. Light scrunched his nose at her mention. "Believe me Y/n. Please. She means nothing to me. I don't like her even a bit. She's persistent and stubborn but I pay her no heed-"
I thought for a moment. I mean, it's true. Light didn't like Misa, he never did. He wasn't even with her, I hate to admit it but it was me being a bit jealous that caused my bitterness towards them. I decided another approach.

"Aren't you suspicious of me?" I asked.
"There's no reason to be." He smiled.
"You didn't even ask me once, what happened in there..." I said in disbelief.
"I trust you. You'll tell us when you're healthy again "
It felt....nice? Having someone you could trust. Someone who trusts you. Someone who cares for you . Someone who wants to see you happy. Sometimes I wondered, was it all just a dream?

I decided to take it seriously. To do something I may regret later, but not now. Not in this moment, never. I'd cherish it even if it backfired on me.
I leaned into his face and kissed him. It was quick but meaningful. He was taken aback . He placed a loving hand on my cheek and kissed my forehead.
In that moment, for the first time ever in my life, I felt loved.

Behind the room stood L with his back to the door. His breath shaky and his heart racing.
