Minutes after Josette had fallen asleep, she was abruptly awoken by a loud crash. Gripping her wand, she saw that Sirius was already alert. "That noise came from downstairs," he said, springing into action.
As Sirius cautiously descended the stairs, a spell narrowly missed his head, causing him to retreat against the wall. Motioning for Josette to stay back, he peered out to see Death Eaters, cloaked and masked, with wands at the ready.
Sirius fired a spell warning them to stay back. "Death eaters." he informed her.
"How many?" Josette stepped forward and waved her wand forming a shield in the middle of the corridor, trapping the death eaters on the other side.
As the staircase ended there were two doors on the opposite side. One led to the kitchen, while the other opened into the living room. She prayed that no one had entered the house yet and that they were all trapped on that side.
"At least eight."
"Stay, try to fight them-"
"Jo, I heard noises." James had rushed downstairs.
"Death eaters. Stay here and help Sirius. I have to get everyone to a safe place." Josette ordered,
James nodded in agreement as Josette hurried upstairs, where everyone had gathered in the hallway. "Death eaters, we must leave," she announced.
Without hesitation, everyone followed her downstairs. The death eaters had broken through the shield, and Sirius and James were bravely battling them. Remus swiftly joined the fight to help his friends.
As the death eaters closed in, Josette quickly ushered Tonks and the children into the kitchen and towards the fireplace.
Tonks, her hair shifting through various colors in her agitation, darted towards the fireplace, only to realize she doesn't know where to go.
"Lysing Hail. Go straight down to the basement." Josette instructed. Usually the floo network is connected to the Ministry and the keep records to who uses it and when but the wards around Lysing Hail prevent any contact from the Ministry.
With a whispered incantation, Tonks vanished into the green flames.
The death eaters were relentless, they saw Josette and Harry run past their protectors into the other room and they couldn't let them get away. Three of them turned into smoke and dashed towards their attackers, one crashed into them, other flew upstairs and the last one into the kitchen. He saw the fireplace; he saw Harry Potter take a handful of floo powder and approach the fireplace. He couldn't let him get away so he fried a spell at the fireplace, and it crashed it on itself. Harry was closest to it and the rubble fell on him, trapping his leg under it.
