26 October: Lysing Hail

Sirius scoffed, "Is this what my brother sacrificed his life for? A trinket." He held the locket up to eye level, examining it closely. While it is a horcrux, was it truly worth his life to obtain it? Harry and Dumbledore managed to escape safely from the cave, it's a different thing that the headmaster died right after that. If only Regulus had asked for help instead of going there with kreacher.

"Regulus was the first to discover the horcruxes. He was quite clever," Josette remarked with a dry chuckle.

"Of course, he was. After all, he is my brother," Sirius said proudly.

Josette jokingly hit him, "Your are nothing like your brother."

"I take offense to that," Sirius huffed, causing her to laugh.

They sat together on their old bed in silence for a few moments before Sirius asked, "What is our next move? This is the third one, but what about the remaining horcruxes?"

"I am not sure. But I know one thing, Harry must be planning to break into Gringotts."

"And we are going to let him?"

"Is there anything else we can do now?" She asked in return knowing what the answer would be. "He has to come to us, only then we can help him."

"Until then?"

"Well, we are here where we started, let's enjoy our time together until the war breaks out and one of us dies."

Sirius chuckled, "Do we have to die?"

Josette smiled, "We have managed to survive for so long, but we cannot always rely on luck."

Sirius's smile faded as he looked at her, "Do you  know something that I am unaware of?"

Josette wanted to lie to him, but she chose not to, "During my time in Azkaban, he gave me an ultimatum. He is going to come after me and I am not sure I will survive."

"That's nonsense. You have defeated him before. Use that shadow ability you just did, and he will be dead before he even has the chance to reach for his wand."

"Shadow casting is not merely a spell, Sirius. It is a monstrous force that reacts to my emotions. If I employ it excessively, it can take control of me," Josette explained.

"You do not have to rely on excessive use. Just one strike straight to the heart and... wait a moment," realization suddenly dawned on him, "The issue is not the Shadow, is it? It is your emotions."

"It appears you truly are Regulus' brother," she joked.

Sirius smiled, accepting the compliment, "Would you like to talk about it?"

"Since when do we do that?" she retorted.

"You are clearly struggling and I am here for you. Please." he requested.
